Lumpy idle - Please help

hi guys, i have another small porblem.

the car started running lumpy so i did an ecu check and it came up with (45) pressure sensor - pressure exchange sensor solenoid.

the car will tick over normally then for aroud 20 seconds then drop to 500rpm for around 20 seconds and then it does it all over again.

i removed the pipes from the red thing on top of the boost solenoid and sprayed brake cleaner and it works for about 10 seconds and then goes lumpy again.

Please Help david.

Is the Code 45 sensor beneath the BCS?

davidgoodwin1803 05 June 2008 10:02 PM

sorry dan not sure what you mean by that

Boost Solenoid. The red one on top is the map sensor, under that is the BCS, then (i think) is the pressure sensor that 45 relates to. Someone should confirm that for you though as not 100%....

is thi the pressure sensor

No, that's the exchange solenoid.

The MAP sensor is the black plastic thing mounted upside down, and has a silver sticker on it. It is to the left of the writing in your picture.

However, I'm not sure if the MAP sensor will give the problems you discribe - when mine went faulty I suffered from fuel cut and the CEL would come on.

i am not getting fuel cut just really lumpy tick over and when i de accelerate say down hill it is poping and farting all the time.

i noticed last night that it is causing the boost gauge to jump all over the place on tick over, normaly on tick over it sits steady at around -0.75bar but now it jumping between -0.2bar - -0.4bar but as soon as i touch the throttle it drops back to -0.75 bar and stops messing around

not sure if this will help, run the tank low but enough to get you to your 'good' supplier of fuel, disconnect the battery for a good couple of hrs then go and refuel up give it a right good blast throught he gears sticking to the speed limits and hopefully that will help. it helped mine a good bit, but i've an air leak somewhere too.

i filled up with tesco 99, then my last fill was with texaco super.

would this cause any problems.

i was told that dodgy fuel could/would change the advance &retard of the car and disconnecting the battery would help.

i'm sure the techie guys would have more knowledge than me!lol

take a look at the video, apart from me pressing the throttle down half way throught the vid its the car doing the rest.

Any ideas
