SELLING A NUMBER PLATE CURRENTLY ASSIGNED..??

We are thinking of selling a number plate currently assinged to my partners car - what is the process?

Can I just re-assign it to whoever buys it or do I need to put it on retention first?

Will we get the previous number plate / a new plate assigned to the car we are taking it off of?

Cheers

I'm prettty sure you would have to put it on retention,anyway once it's done the whole selling process would be easier for you and the buyer.
DVLA will try to reassign the original plate where possible.
Try here--->reg.
Also search the DVLA website,or ring them..

yup Retention is the way to go. You can assign a Nominee but they do not become the legal owner.

Just done mine and it only took 8 days for them to put it on retention so straight forward enough.
