I APOLGISE TOO ALL ON HERE THAT RECIEVED THIS EMAIL !

I HAVE TWO ADDRESS BOOKS ON MY COMPUTER
ONE IS FOR GENERAL PEOPLE LIKE YOURSELVES & THE OTHER IS FOR CONTACTS FOR THE COMPANY

I GENUINELY SENT THIS EMAIL TO THE WRONG ADDRESS BOOK
THIS MAIL SHOULD HAVE GONE TO EXISTING CUSTOMERS, AS YOU KNOW THAT THIS IS NOT MOST OF YOU

I WAS NOT EXPECTING THIS TYPE OF ABUSE FOR A GENUINE MISTAKE
HAD I KNOWN I WOULD UPSET SO MANY PEOPLE I WOULD HAVE POSTED AN APOLOGY LAST NIGHT WHEN I REALISED WHAT I HAD DONE !

ANY ONE WHO KNOWS ME OR HAS MET ME FROM HERE WILL KNOW THAT IM A GENUINE PERSON & TRYING TO RUN MY OWN BUSINESS BUT I DO MAKE MISTAKES SOMETIMES (IM ONLY HUMAN)

IF YOU WANT ME TO LEAVE SCOOBY NET BECAUSE OF THIS & I WILL ACCEPT YOUR DECISION

I WONT BE ATTENDING ANY EVENTS NOW & AM GOING TO RESIGN FROM BEING THE AREA REP FOR SIDC AS I AM SCARED OF WHAT SORT OF RECEPTION I WILL GET ( THE HATRED HERE IS VERY HARSH & I AM SCARED)

MY GIRLFRIENDS EMAIL ADDRESS WAS ALSO IN THIS LIST & I WOULDNT HAVE SENT THIS TO HER WOULD I (SHE GETS ALL SHE WANTS FOR FREE SO A 10% DISCOUNT WOULDNT REALLY INTEREST HER)

PLEASE ACCEPT MY APOLOGY AS IM AM A SCOOBY OWNER JUST LIKE THE REST OF YOU

AS I SAY THIS WAS MEANT FOR SEVERAL HUNDRED HAPPY CUSTOMERS WHO ARE PEOPLE THAT DESERVE A DISCOUNT OFF MY PRODUCTS DUE TO PREVIOUSLY ORDERING THROUGH ME

I HAVE DELETED MY COMPLETE GENERAL ADDRESS BOOK SO REST ASSURED YOU WILL NOT GET EMAIL FROM ME AGAIN! I CANT TURN THE TABLES BACK BUT IM AM SORRY

ScoobyJawa 02 January 2002 11:57 AM

Paul,

I wasn't involved but I'd lilke to add that IMHO you should not resign as Rep for SIDC and you are of course still welcome on Scoobynet. Everyone makes mistakes, its only human.

You have made a very good apology and explained all so again IMHO this should now be totally forgotton about.

Cheers
Neil

Edited to add: ;)

Get your ass down to the Sussex meet on Sun. Don't worry about this!!! This will in no way affect that at all and will be a cracking meet :D and good to meet a fellow scooby owner, and see a nice P1 in the process ;) :D

Hanslow 02 January 2002 12:02 PM

Paul, send another email explaining the situ and point them at this thread....then retract your resignation.

The community will lose a valuable member who is prepared to organise meets if you let it go through.

You've already seen a lot of responses that are now more undestanding given your apology.

Stay with us, and the SIDC, people will not even give it a second thought now ;)

Edit : And like Jawa has said, get yourself down to the meet, down a few cokes and have a good time. You will have forgotten about it by the end of the day ;)

Neil Smalley 02 January 2002 12:44 PM

Or as bad as the guy who sent a dirty Email to his mistress, only to send it to his wife by mistake

BTW This was reported in the daily mail the other week, in case people were thinking it was me!

chrisp 02 January 2002 01:12 PM

Paul no worries I dont think I got an email but if I did I just look at the title and I delete. You have explained what went wrong. Its no where near as bad as this ;) -----> I recieved a letter from a Subaru dealer and they had forgot to post a stamp on. So I had to pay for the privlege of junk mailand teh fuel to go to the post office :D. Okay it cost me 80p to get a junk flyer but I realised it was a mistake and actually thought it was quiet funny, didnt even bother to tell them as I assumed it was a genuine mistake. It wasnt my local dealer either but they had done work for me in the past and I was very happy with their service so I just let it go.

The only people I know who have never sent emails to the wrong people are people who have never sent email ;), I have done it loads of times just miss-selecting a name/mailing list off a list. Is easily done and impossible to undo.

I wouldnt worry too much and pop along to the meet I am sure most people would just find it funny and makes a good pub topic to talk about.

cheers

chrisp

devils_ad69 01 February 2002 09:18 AM

Come on name and shame?

JoeyDeacon 01 February 2002 09:32 AM

Anybody want me to write them a little MAPI Visual Basic program which they can just leave running to continually send him emails? ;-) If you have ADSL then you can include a nice big attachment each time also!

Paul78 01 February 2002 09:44 AM

His company Tiscali, sell broadband satellite services to home users ...

I do not suppose that the e - mail was constructive, sorry to appear callous, but buisness is buisness...

Cheers

TopCat 01 February 2002 10:00 AM

I got one also, a few days back he was interested in some parts I had posted. I know the italian company Tascali (ASP/ISP) he has nothing to do with them he must use their mail service thats all.

Moe

Mungo 01 February 2002 11:05 AM

I would be very impressed if the owner of Tiscali was
a) A singular person
b) On this board
Tiscali is worth billions of Euros!!!...

Luke 01 February 2002 11:08 AM

I will lamp the c*nt if he sends me spam. God I hate the stuff, had it every day at school.

Richard Askew 01 February 2002 11:13 AM

...guys keep it chilled and try to resolve it amicably please...
[/moderator hat]

Paul78 01 February 2002 11:14 AM

Mungo,

I wasn't implying that he owned the co. I was just interested to see if this chappie had any sales type connection with any of their products, namely the Gilat VSAT based broadband internet system - TiscaliSat, as the type of people on this board ( ie: middle wage bracket, spend time on net etc ) as a typical target market, hense the interest to see if the spamming had any construction to ..

Obviously not however !

regards,

P

Blow Dog 01 February 2002 11:44 AM

Now that's an apology.

Fulham71 01 February 2002 11:44 AM

I HAVE NOW RESIGNED FROM MY CAPACITY AS SURREY AREA REP FOR THE SIDC

PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF I AM NOW UNWELCOME IN HERE TOO

PAUL

Hanslow 01 February 2002 11:50 AM

Paul, I'm sure people won't be too harsh knowing that it was a genuine mistake.

It's a bit severe to resign from SIDC and never come on the BBS again. Your apology was very complete, if a little loud (the old Caps-Lock again ;))

I never got any email from you but I think it would be sad to see someone step down from an SIDC position and not frequent a BBS that is on the whole light hearted and an excellent community. People make mistakes, I'm sure the people that were affected will be OK with it knowing that it was a genuine mistake.

Stick around, things should be OK :D

ChrisB 01 February 2002 11:51 AM

Hey, easy guys! We all make the odd cock-up too.

devils_ad69 01 February 2002 11:53 AM

Wow wow wow!

I am sure there is no need to resign from anything if its a genuine mistake.

After all, we are all human. Take a chill pill!

Fulham71 01 February 2002 11:54 AM

Thanks for your kind words Hanslow
I ahve emailed John Baldock to tell him that i am resigning.
I was due to attend the Sussex meat at Pease Pottage on Sunday but feel that i now cannot attend
I would be grateful if someone could now take over arranging the P1 meet which i was trying to arrange in the Southern Section of the Events
Many people seem to want get together & it would be a shame if it all fell apart now

Luke 01 February 2002 11:58 AM

God this BBS takes its self a bit serious...

MATTeL 01 February 2002 12:08 PM

Paul,

I have committed the e-mail mistake many times now and the "oh no second" is the worst part of it.

After that apology, I don't think there is anyone that will hold a grudge. IMHO some of the reponses were a bit over the top, filters are a wonderful thing.

BTW I'm coming from Herts for this meet, I expect you to be there. You are right next door! ;)

Cheers,
Mark

Paul78 01 February 2002 12:11 PM

I think that a frustration was vented, not in particular at yourself, but I'm sure on the thousands of e - mails, that clog up our PCs daily.

Just my 2p...

Richard Askew 01 February 2002 12:13 PM

Paul
Remember this bbs is nothing to do with the SIDC - I think if you take 10 mins to sit down and have a think, then you will come to the conclusion that both yourself and the SIDC have more to gain if you retract your resignation. Mate, there are some peeps who get narky about the smallest things...they may have had a bad day or summat like that, no-one knows. As you have said it was a genuine mistake...I think I'm the only person I know who never ever makes mistakes ;)
No one ever wants to see someone driven from scoobynet and it would be daft for you to see it fit for you to leave...
