Legacy power problems

I have an old 96 legacy GT that seems to be running a bit sick.

It was running fine yesterday, but jumped in it today and it was way down on power.

It is idling very low and feels lumpy on idle, and when I accelerate there is nothing there. It feels like it's being held really held back, although maintaining a speed/coasting is fine. Although it did smell funny, not hot but a strange smell, but had been thrashing it a bit to get it to go.

The car is not smoking, don't think the head has gone, and starting just as easy as ever.

Seems a bit strange to me, could it be something simple? Any ideas?

A light on the dash came on for a minute today. looked like the cat was hot, warning light.
