Hello and welcome!

I'm currently in the USA (Columbia, IL) and I too am on i-club (username markuswarren I think!)

suffice to say that this bbs is very much like i-club, hope you enjoy it.

as for you 'hanging out' here, hey, you're more than welcome, hell, if you guys allow me on i-club then you're a pretty tolerant lot! :D

My name is Domenic,

I'm a member of the North American Subaru Impreza Club - "New England" chapter.

I own a Black 97' Subaru Impreza 2.2 5spd ......... Nothing in comparison to the Subies out here though! Plan on keeping it though .... she is trully reliable ..and when the day comes that she can take no more ...then we will rebuild her...."the right way" ....STI RA style :D

The only person I know here is 'Little Miss WRX' - she introduced herself to our site a couple months ago ...... Hi Michelle ;)

Hope you guys are o.k. with someone from the "other side of the pond" hangin out a little. Please feel free to show me the ropes... as i have been here for a total of 10 minutes ...and have no idea as to how things are done.

Hello once again -

Domenic

btw : yes ... I am Italian ...incase u were wondering :D ...Ciao

Danbo 01 February 2002 12:32 AM

hello and welcome!!!!

Italiano 01 February 2002 02:48 AM

Yep another I-clubber :)

I have very few digital pics of the car ..... (taken by other clubbers at a meet near Boston about a year ago) most show just bits and pieces of it ..since there are other cars in the way - I have plenty of my own pics.... but not yet in digital format

If someone can give me a heads up as to how to post these things i'll put some up in my next reply

Domenic

Domenic:
Welcome. I see you've discovered Scoobynet also - great site.
I'm a member of the I-Club also, and am usually lurking in the Tri-State Forum (as rakman). Since you live in CT you should try to make it to one of our regular "spirited" Sunday Drives.

I'll be happy to act as your translator for some of the comments / slang. However, being a Mancunian I confess I have trouble understanding folks south of Watford Junction :-). I hope you enjoy the different sense of humour when compared to the US and the wealth of knowledge the Brits have already about our cars.

PS. To post a picture just follow the instructions at the beginning of this forum and "Bobs you Uncle". I've attached a picture of my car.

Jeez.. what time is it there? It's 3:40 am here and I'm pissed:D

WRXster 02 February 2002 04:17 AM

It's 11:00pm here and the night is just getting started. I could do with a few pints of Boddies to get me pissed.

tonybooth 02 February 2002 01:30 PM

Impreza's in NJ & CT? Never :D I have just come back from NYC, and only saw 2 Legacy Outbacks. Not an Impreza in site. Shame.

Tony:
Subies live on a diet of twistie roads - you won't find many of them within the grid-lock known as Manhattan. We have a very thriving community of Subies outside Manhattan - Long Island / Queens.
The WRX is pretty rare over here - only about 15000 in the whole country. Most of them are found along the US snow belt - NY/NJ/CT, Colorado and some out west.

Here's a picture of one of our summer meets in Cape May, NJ

There we go .. finally got modern technology to work with me ...not the greatest quality pic .... I grabbed the first pic in my album brought it to work , scanned it ,e-mailed it back home ...up loaded it to I-club ..and here it is ...sheesh

rakman ... i'll look out for ya ... I havn't yet done much with the Tri-state guys ... but if all goes well I hope to be at the Rallyspec meet on March 2 ! ...hopefully

pmork .... your just going to have to do some cutting n' pasting becuase this pic thing just isn't working for me yet :)

Thanks for the welcome everyone,
I look forward to being here, :D

Italiano 04 February 2002 11:30 PM

Dave .....

Comunque per un Inglese "scrivi" abbastanza bene in Italiano ;) .... continua a praticare!

Being Bi-lingual is always good ... i'm actually giving Spanish a try at the moment ... we'll see what happens

Ciao-

jay-j 05 February 2002 12:12 AM

hi, you are now entering the weird and wonderful world of scooby net, get out while you still can. To late you are now trapped forever. Reeeeeeeeeeally like the colour

Diesel 05 February 2002 08:33 AM

Bienvenidos!

Soy Galles e ahora un estudiante de Espanol. Tengo un poquito de Italiano solo, pero estan molto similare!

Having just spent a few weeks in the States, why do you want these Scooby cars? It's all straight with traffic lights everywhere, and everyone drives so slow! Well LA, Maui and Miami anyway! Maui was funny - lots of 300bhp + cars, and the max speed limit there being 45mph, reducing to MAXIMUM 15 MPH whenever there was the slightest curve in the road!

I actually 'got it' - The Chrysler 300M and Mustang and Harley Heritage were dynamically awfull - terrible terrible machinery, but they do suit the roads there (the 300M had fewer agricultural parts, and wasnt too bad actually). But having the big capacity engines but with no go in all these vehicles was very puzzling!

Why have you gone for these stiff little cars, and are you aware that the speed cameras are coming...???

Saludos

D

rsquire 05 February 2002 08:53 AM

are you aware that the speed cameras are coming
I think you are confusing that with the red light cameras that are being trialled in CA..

bits'n'pieces 05 February 2002 09:46 AM

Conneticut eh ? I have friends in Groton !! Have to meet up so I can tell you how fast the Turbo ones really are :) :) :) Spend a lot of time in MASS and CT....Good to know we have a few more US Guys on this board...

mozzaITA 05 February 2002 09:56 AM

Hey this sounds like fun, sono italiano anche io, abito in inghilterra!!!! mi piaciono manchine veloce :) ciao domenico

Diesel 05 February 2002 10:50 AM

>>I think you are confusing that with the red light cameras that are being trialled in CA<<

Sorry Richard, but it's true.

Hawaii has been the test ground, and are having a big debate about it now. It seems to be going that they will pull them down for reasons of the backlash, and since they clearly cause driver distraction. How nice - if it happens.

Italiano 06 February 2002 11:34 PM

Hello again :)

Bits'n'pieces - Sounds god! -You've got a Turbo huh ...Nice :) We should hook up sometime since your close ...I'm 'Italiano' on the I-club if that helps.

mozzaITA - Piacere ;) che fai in Ingiltera? - Your probably wondering what the hell i'm doing in the U.S. - yea I ask my self that question too!

Diesel - Yes Italian and Spanish R similar ...good wheeeeew .... about the automotive world here in the U.S. 1) U.S. cars Suck! 2) U.S. speed limits Suck! (My driving record proves it *shrug* ) Why do I dig the Subies ....well here in CT I live in a very hilly area .... with plenty of twisty back roads with sudden turns /hills / straights .... yes i Enjoy destroying cars threw the turns ....just to have them come up to my tail on the straight ...just to kill them on the next turn :) ...now if I just had the HP to keep them ALL back there on the straights! Seriuosly though .... you can't beat the safety factor of AWD ... and for the price ...It is quite a deal for peace of mind in bad weather ... that is what attracted me to the Subie in the first place.... plus I strive to be differant ..... In a Sea of Honda's and Mitsu's ... It's nice to be able to say I own a AWD Subaru ;)

Domenic
