NGK PFR7 spark plugs
 

I have seen these plugs on Ebay at £6.62 each which seems a good price. £29.23 for 4 inc delivery.:)

Are they the correct fitment?

I am just about to purchase these! Its a good price and judging from their feedback they are the right fitment, there's a few 'scooby' related user names there. Re gap to 0.65 and you will be sorted.

you can't just fit them? you still need to re gap?

The last set I bought were gapped at 0.7mm out of the box, there's no need to change, I have run upto 1.8 bar without spark issues.

where is the catch? they seam alot cheaper than other places

IIrc I only paid about £7 each for mine, so is about right.

Always a good idea to check the gap, if its out its a waste of time fitting them only to have to remove them when you realise:wonder:

my mates just got his from ebay and there spot on makes you wonder why some places are double the money for the same thing!

quite simply the fact that some guy on ebay has zero overheads, so can sell them at a knockdown price.

But will they fit?

Yes. Remember, you can always contact the seller. The standard is PFR6B these are the same but run cooler.

Good question, are all spark plug threads etc universal?

Yes it will fit.

No not all threads are the same, but the "F" in PFR says that it is a 14.0mm thread with a 1.25mm pitch and has a 19mm reach.

The "P" tells you that it's a platinum plug.

The "R" let's you know that it has a resistor fitted

The number "7" is the heat range - A "7" operates at a slightly cooler temp to a "6" so is good for a car that is modified and running more power than std.

The "B" is the design series of the plug

If you have a number at the end then that tells you what the gap was set at from the factory I.E 8=0.8mm 9=0.9mm 10=1.0mm 11=1.1 etc - If there is no number then it is set to 0.7mm

you'l find the some guy on ebay has sold over 30000 items so will have overheads difference is the amount of profit he wants to make! seen as he is seelling them at under £30 and will be making a profit at that!
i think alot of subaru specialists imho charge high because they know they can! as alot of subaru drivers only buy from a specialist rather than shop around

so even the PFR6B should be re gapped to 0.65mm?
need to change mine so I want to do the right thing :)
car is stock so I think the PFR6B will be ok

Unless you are running major boost standard 0.7mm gap will be fine.

People only reduce the gap when running high boost, as the spark can be blown out!

i do have a set of pfr6b plugs if anyone is interested and a set of ilfr6b for the 2.5?

Couldn't agree more. Same product, different price. Certain big name Subaru tuners cost a fortune for parts that can be had for half the price elsewhere. I guess the difference is how much comeback you have if it needs to be returned. But plugs are plugs.

I bought a set from that ebayer, received within 5 working days no issues - they're in the car now.

I changed mine (PFR7B's) recently too. They didnt come pre-gapped at 0.7mm though, more like 0.75mm.

On advise from Bob Rawle I gapped them to 0.65mm. :)

Just to add,

If you are fitting the cooler plugs to a classic import, then you ought to be using the PFR7G-11 & (then re-gapping to 0.6-0.7mm) not the "7B".

The G series plug is fitted as std from the factory on JDM cars & there have been cases of cars misfiring on the "7B" series & people having to go back to a 6B.

Interesting...I've not had problems (that I've noticed) with 7Bs - what's the difference between the B and the G plug?

there are about £100+vat from some of the places i have looked. dammmmm expensive!!
