Boost Solenoid Help
Today I noticed a hose missing off my solenoid valve and I'm not sure if it needs to be connected to anything.
Can anyone pls help. http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...olenoid007.jpg And also I found this hose leading underneath the turbo with a bit of a suction whilst the engine was running but it seemed like it had been cut off from somewhere. http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...olenoid005.jpg Should the hose be connected to the solenoid? |
The hose missing from your boost solenoid is the hose which connects to the actuator.with the hose dissconected your boost will go through the roof and you could do some damage.

Nice one. Do you think that would the hose in the second pic which seems to have been chopped off?
|
yeah possibly.the hose connects to the bottom of the actuator, cant really tell from the pic.

Do you have a manual boost controller fitted (something like the Dawes Deevice?
Either way, that hose by the turbo should be either blocked off or connected. I'm suprised that your boost hasn't been mental as already suggested, unless of course you have an aftermarket controller. Try and chase that tube, it may be connected to the inlet manifold directly. Mine had a couple of tubes around that area, one was to the bottom of the turbo, the other to the inlet. If it's the inlet, then you will be running lean. I found this picture useful that someone had posted up a while back. |

And cheers for that pic.:thumb:

When you said that hose should be either blocked off or RECONNECTED, did you mean reconnected to the solenoid? Out of interest then, how does the car drive when you floor it? What boost do you get and have you been introduced to fuel cut yet? |
Aight will have a short play around once the weather clears up. The loose tube so far does seem to disappear towards the actuator but not sure till I take the airbox off.
I haven't floor'd it since I bought the car but so far its driving fine although the boost is not exactly thrilling like I had on my evo III. I'm still yet to fit a boost guage or hit fuel cut. My wrx is bug standard(or at least I hope it is). Might need to examine another engine bay to see what goes where. Cheers for helping out Nick. |
