how to change the power steering tank?
 

I have got a new power steering tank to go onto my v6 classic sti.

any how to guides on how to change them? and what fluid do i need to fill it back up with?

The tank is very easy to remove

Take off the top 5 10mm bolts, you may need 2 remove the altonator cover that the throttle cable is fitted to, only 3 bolts.

Once the top is removed, these is a black rubber gasket type thing, remove this trying not to dammage it.

Then this it the tricky part, keep diping cloths into the tank to soak up the fluid, untill its empty.

Once empty there are 2 12mm bolts at the bottom, undo these and remove the tank.

While the tank is off it may pay you to replace the 'O' ring, this is only about 60 pence from Subaru

Then fit the new tank in the revese order, once fitted keep toping the fluid up, and bleed the system through

To blead it, fill up to the max mark LEAVE THE TOP OFF start the engine up, and lock the steering from side
Keep it at each side for a few seconds at a time.
Do this 5 times = (all the way left and hold it for 3 second, all the way right hold it for 3 secs)

Check the fluid level, top up to max, and keep following the procedure untill the level does not drop down

Put the lid back on and test drive, check for any leaks.
Just check the level over the next few days 2 make sure its ok

BTW the fluid you need is just normal PSF, and motor company will sell it, just get a litre bottle.
