WRX PPP - second hand - rare?

Hi all,

Looking at getting the PPP for my 04 WRX. I have seen loads of PPP's for STI's around on ebay but dont really see any for the WRX? Are they quiet rare second hand? :wonder:

Thanks,

James.

Do you mean 2nd hand parts to add to your current car? You don't see many, sometimes you will see the exhaust for sale as people often replace them, but not the ecu as much.

To be honest, you may be better changing your exhaust and getting the ecu mapped. You won't be able to sell yours as a genuine PPP and you would probably get more power that way.

Yep, secondhand parts i.e. the downpipe, backbox, hoses and ecu (i think thats all that in the PPP)?

I have been thinking of getting the downpip, backbox and hoses as aftermarket parts and getting the PPP ecu, as, if i understand correctly, the ecu occasionally comes up and goes for around £300, whereas mapping is going to cost me £600?

Looking for a mixture between the best and cheapest option really... want to keep the same turbo for the minute too. Thought the PPP ecu would be the best move?

WRX PPP - no down pipe !

Rear Decat Centre
Back Box
ECU
Intercooler Pipe

I would fit these parts and go for an STi Sports cat down pipe, fuel pump and STi panel filter too as the PPP parts list is a good starting point, but don't get hung up on them being prodrive. A remap is a safer and cheaper ECU change when adding parts that are different to the PPP package ie the down pipe.:)

Cool, thanks for that, now i just have to raise some funds!

Am i right in thinking an ecutek map is using the existing ecu and just loading a different map?

Thanks again, such a good forum!

Correct :thumb: but its not only loaded, its adjusted specific for your cars level of modification. There are a few options regarding remapping, software and mappers etc so depending on your location have a search on remaps:)

I had a MY03 WRX PPP and added extra parts and went for a Mocom Remap;) View My Scooby for Mods, there was a few on there :D

Edit: I just spotted the Ipswich :luxhello: get yourself to Mocoms mate :thumb:

WOW! £450 for an ECUtek remap looks awesome! Better start modding and get myself up there! Are you anywhere near 300bhp with your WRX?

Mocom not too far away at all either! Thanks for the tip!

I never rolling roaded it and have since sold it but it was producing ...

235BHP at the wheels and 238 FtLbs of Torque at the wheels.

The software isn't ecutek there are a number of different options.:)

I would value it at a conservative 273/276 at the fly but others may claim more in the conversion from wheels to fly.

This site is more generous 290/295, but the important thing is the gains accross the rev range rather than peak power :thumb:

Having said that my current STi is producing 355/410 according the that website :smug:
