PS3 as a media player
 

I am thinking of getting a PS3 to be used for playing back Blu-Ray and for it's media player function, but not so sure how well this works, so really looking for advice from you guys on your own experiences on how well this works.

I have a NAS drive that supports playing back media files to a PS3, however i was wondering if a Wi-fi handheld device like a PDA/Wi-fi phone could control the PS3 for playing back for eg MP3 files, the sound would of course be outputting to a amp/speakers.

I would prefer this to having to use the TV to play back MP3 files, of course playing back visual content would be viewed on a TV so this would be okay.

Hope you can help with your own real world views.

I'm using a PS3 with twonkyvision running on my NAS. Works great (even streaming wirelessly).

Can't help you on the control .. the lack of any oled/lcd display on the ps3 is limiting if you are trying to use it without the TV on .

You could use a psp to control it remotely.

I'll see if I can borrow one for a weekend to test before trawling fleabay...
