This was a thread about an electric Volvo 30 seconds ago! :lol1: |
Heck, the first Q everyone will ask is what is the budget....
Porsche 911 GT3RS if money no object, Metro GTi is much much better than given credit for if your talking sub £500! Simon |

if you are feeling flush, then i suppose itll have to be an arial ( spelling ) atom........
|
integra type r, saxo vts or ek9 type r or even a nissan S13,
all handel very well cheap to maintain. |
|
A Clio 172 Cup or if you want more hardcore An MK Indy (westy type car) |
Evo 2 rs
|
you really want rear wheel drive so as said a westfield, but my personal choice is a type r:D the only other car that is essentially a road going track car is the old bmw m3 the square shaped one i think its a e30:wonder: it was designed for the track with all the trick bits required, so i was told by a mate who knows his stuff ! im sure there are people who know more than i do about them!:thumb:

2 Attachment(s)
205GTi
E30 BMW I'm a little biased as I have both :D Although of course it very much depends on yours budget for the car and budget to track it for a year Attachment 49914 Attachment 49915 |
get a RWD civic type R powered saxo
|
I'm considering the same type of project at the moment and looking for something of similar budget although I also maybe want something small so I can put it on a trailer to take to some track days, current thinking is the Renault 172 Cup although I am really a rwd fan so interested in small car suggestions around this i.e. the honda powered saxo
|
westy or similar
|
Without a doubt i'd go for an orignal BMW M3(LHD with dogleg gearbox).
these were released to the public just so they could race in Touring car, this tool was made for the track......2.2ltr 16v 4 cylinder high revving light weight beast and of course rear wheel drive. should be able to pick one up for that type of dosh |
We've still got our 3 door Cossie, and they still can't keep up with it!
|
Just spotted this. Looks good fun:norty: :norty: Track Day Cars : Rear Engine Pug 205 2L16V
|
Mi16 205 gti, with tarmac suspension and good tyres little will touch them.
|
There is one missing yet vital piece of information..... your budget.
You could say f430 scuderia, lambo gallardo superleggera, Porsche 911 gt3 rs (in green or orange) or you could say ariel atom, caterham seven of the higher spec, lotus exige s? or further down, cheaper caterham, lotus exige or elise, specced up scooby, rx-7? even lower, pug 205 gti, mad ford fiesta or escort rst, capri, sierra 3dr cosworth, or just about any car with a cage, good suspension and good tyres. All down to your budget mate :-) Or just go to the race car section of pistonheads and buy a dedicated track car, ive seen mk4 and 5 upwards fiesta zoom around the brandshatch indy circuit just as quick as the timeattack cars...... |
personally if u just want a car for fun that will take the abuse u cant beat a toyota corrolla gt coupe ,ok they are lifeless but u can basicly just keep them pinned amd steer like a good en ...great wee engine and they are bomb proff u willl pay 6k for a good one uk spec or slightly less for a jap

Porsche 996 Gt3 rs, a right pain on the road though!

Me for £6K, late Classic STi (DCCD a must for a track Impreza) with a bit left over for some tuning of brakes and suspension Simon |
Scooby ? :)
|
Integra DC2 JDM SPEC :)
|
eg shape civic vti with good suspension and tyres and with the 3k you have left after doing that turbo it.....great we cars, good handling even as satndard and willl take 8500rpm all day long
