Newbie's MY99 Pics - what to do first??

Picked up my MY99 on saturday, here's a couple of pics!

Still standard apart from the induction. Can't afford to sort exhaust yet since my first priority is to pay off what I owe on the car, but wondering where you lot would advise me to start with a few cheaper mods?

first job is to get rid of the stickers on the back, or at least the HKS one. After this, what would you all say?

I'd appreciate any ideas/advice.
Cheers

Sorry, should have stated not cosmetic mods. Quite like the stock look. Thinking more along the lines under bonnet stuff (braided hoses? are they worth it? Dump valves? etc)

Cheers for the reply though bud :thumb:

Yeh, but those Orange things are nasty, get em off.

For me the first essential mod is a decent stainless system so I would start looking on the for sale section and Ebay. There are loads of cheap systems to be had.

put a maf sensor on it

paint the wheels silver ,lower it a bit ,personally id change the rear spoiler far too big, then its up to u ...if u want a bit of noise and some more power a decent exhaust is on the cards , ive a 6x4 oval magnex full system and miltek down pipe and its not overly loud but its really as loud as id like it to be ,if u want it to wake the dead either put on a blitz nurspec or a kakimoto n1 exhaust system and down pipe...

a dump valve will do nothing and make u look like a dick lol unless ur running a lot more boost .

id probley loose the induction kit at the min also cos u dont need it and unless its a proper one if the maf has been banged about its probley on its way out also..and so will ur engine if u dont change that .

From looking through the receipts it looks like the MAF sensor was replaced at around 50,000miles (currently at 66k). How often do these go?

As for the induction, it's a big open cone job - not sure what it is (though there is an HKS sticker on the back of the car) - I'll get a couple of engine pics up for you to see.

Personally, kinda attached to the big spoiler and gold alloys (suprisingly!), but I agree about those bizarre orrange bits! What are those little orange wedges about!?

Do a search on MY99/00 MAF's - they are particularly weak and fail regularly. Apparently failure is more common with an induction kit (Higher vibration mainly).

I kept the standard air box, I've read on here that its good for around 350bhp anyway

IMO.

Ditch the rear spoiler. To me only cars that come with those spoilers should have them (although I put a P1 spoiler on mine - was never really sure I liked it) Although you may find you'll need to replace the boot if its been fitted with the STI mounts.

Ditch the induction kit for a proper air box and STI/K&N Panel. Decent exhaust and a remap. Then work on the suspension.

:D

Hmmm...think the last guy who had it was somewhere further south of manchester, but you never know! Keen eye you've got there, if it was though!

I could be wrong mate, very similar. I too would ditch that spoiler and go for the standard 1. Dont worry about getting bit and bob mods, just save for an exhuast!:luxhello:
