Unfortunately you can't get these in the UK, it's such a shame.

I would have loved to get a set of 245/40/18 for my new wheels, ended up going for Goodyear F1 Asymetrics.

Try asking Litchfield if they could sneak a couple of sets in, I think he does this with wheels by putting them in the cars when they are imported saving on shipping.

One of the well know "tuners" on here mentioned to me that he'd always run on RE070s given a free choice :) Great tyres!

Try sending a PM to 'Juggers' (aka Immy of PCM) as he once told me he could get 18" RA-R re070's, but they won't be cheap. Expect to pay £150+ per corner..:eek:

Failing that you won't go wrong with GY F1 asymmetrics, brilliant tyres IMHO. I just paid £100/corner for 18's..!:cool:

The other option, as most people now know is Vredestein US's..;)

I paid £128 a corner all in which I thought was a good price.

Gordy, I spoke to Iain regarding these tyres ready for my RA-R. He said he had looked into it and the cost was prohibitive. He reckoned you could have two sets of tyres (one for track, one for road) for the price of one set of these. If someone out there could get a set of 18" RE070's I would be prepared to pay up to £200 per tyre, as I rate them that much. Only other tyre I would consider is the Pirelli P Zero Corsa Assimetrico. These are a road legal track rubber and are also very sticky, although I found they didn't last long. They are also very expensive, upwards of £165 per tyre. I've also given the T1R a try. Good all round tyre I found, but they cannot keep up with the braking ability of my AP's and the car gets very skittish under hard braking. Not bad in the wet though. Personally I don't think I'll use them again.

If you think T1R's are good then trust me you'll be very impressed by the GY F1 Asymetrics (once they have around 600 miles on them that is..;))

I also thought the Toyo was a good all rounder, apart from heavy braking and ANY kind of standing water, where they were dangerous..!:eek:
I used to think this was down to my chassis setup until trying the GYF1A's, now the car is transformed, in fact I'm yet to find their limit, wet or dry..!:D

Boyakasha; I paid £100 all in for 225's, however I could have had 235's for £115 iirc, just didn't want to overdo it (weight wise/gearing..:D). Also, they're a lot wider than the toyo's I had on previously, even thought they were both 225's..?:wonder: Something I mentioned on here at the time.

I've seen several scoobs running these lately, inc a demo 08 STI outside main stealers on 245 18's..:)

£225 before you've even left japan then you got shipping vat customs and excise would imagine each tyre costing atleast £350.

Don't get me Rong they are a fantastic tyre especially on the track ,but i'd rather get a set of t888 which will be cheaper.

The tyre place said that it was a tight fit with the 235s so I'm guessing your 225s must have been a B@stard to fit. That was on my 18x8 OZ Ultraleggeras.

They didn't mention it, lol, virtually same wheel 18x8 super leggs (nice and light..:cool:

Were your previous set of tyres 235's, if so did you notice the GY's seem wider..?

How do you rate them to previous tyres you've used, as I can't see there being many that are better, maybe re070's when their hot and the weathers dry..? Also Vredsteins, but at the end of the day it's all down to personal preference and the only way to really compare is trying them yourself on the same car. Hence my comparison to Toyo T1R's.

I had some useful info from Mike Wood (of PD) who reckoned that of the many tyres they've tested on the newage impreza, generally they found heavily directional tyres made the car a bit squirmy. This included the previous GY F1 and toyo's T1R, that ironically a lot of people rave on about..!
This in the end was what made me choose the GYA's over the Vredesteins. FWIW, prodrive have not tested either tyre.

I had Yokohama Advan AO48's on my 18's, these are also semi slicks for the road, excellent grip in the dry never missed a beat under cornering or braking but the can be tricky in the wet:nono: , not the cheapest about £140 each.

I have RE070's on my stock 17's which are also excellent but i did think the yoko's were better in the dry but Bridgestones do have a better traction and grip through standing water and in the rain but only a bit

i just had to replace the Yoko's about a month or so ago got myself RE050's at £100 each 235/40/18 partly so i wouldn't get caught out in the rain and more the cost. There definatly not as good as etheir of the above not enough meat on the sides and they do screech a bit:lol1:,
more of a compromise really

I did hunt around a bit for the RE070 in 18' but no joy:( and when i did the bloody expensive:razz:

If you are changing them your tyres soon try the Yoko's, they'll be abit cheaper in 17inch aswell, as long as you don;t blast it too much in the wet:nono: #
