Rear LSD diff (R160) question...

I have a Plated LSD rear R160 diff...

When i drive a round a slight corner, it looks and hears like, there is something braking of the car....

Its a hard mechanical sound, what is not okee... i think.

I have tryed everything, and thinking of taking it off the car...

I all ready changed the preload to less tight
(about 35nm, it was 65nm:wonder: )...

I can also change the ramp, its now sitting in the easy ramp...

Does anybody have more experiences?

Tomorrow iam setting it on the hard ramp, hope it helps...

Any ideas are welcome...

This is perfectly normal & there is nothing wrong with the diff.

No matter what you do it will always make a noise.

These diffs are not really meant for road use, they are designed for competition cars.

Road cars are built with a viscous diff because they are silent.

I'm afraid you are going to either put up with the noise/bangs or refit the standard viscous unit.

You need to set the ramp angles at 45/45 degrees

Hi,

Just finished the diff.

Ive set the preload on oem (about 60/65nm)
Turned the cone spring around, now pressing in the hart of the plates...
(was pressing only in the middel)
Also changed the ram, to slow working (was fast)

Drove a it on the hiway for an half hour, and changed the LSD oil..

It's now reasonbly quiet, no more bang and klunks...:wonder:

Not when i drive on to the parking lot, or with sharp turning ...

You deff feel/hear the plated diff working under the car :norty:

I am a ferry happy man again...:D

What's plated diff give you over say an R180?

I've got the suretrac R180 and love it, it wants to kick the back end out on high power in bends which is perfect for my driving style as hate front going (never happens with all mods I've done). Just wonder what plate would give extra?
