Core Duo, Dual Core, Turion etc
Ok so which is the better processor to get
a Core Duo Core Duo 2 Dual Core AMD Turion 64 bit what intel 64 bit are there ? which would be best, tend to do mostly audio recording and photoshop stuff, I do use an AMD Turion 64 bit at work, which is pretty decent and quick especially with 4Gb Ram running Vista Ultimate, however personally for audio stuff I would stick with XP Pro for now |
this any good Sonic ?

Out of those processors, I'd choose a core 2 duo.
I've had a 6600 for about 18 months. If I was upgrading again, I'd chose a core 2 quad. I'd have probably upgraded to one already, but my MB doesn't support the quad cores and I CBA to swap that just yet. Most of the newer intel processors are 64 bit... the core 2 duos certainly are. |
Core 2 Duo I think is the one to have still for what you are after. Although the quads are starting to take over if your apps are multi threaded.

Thats quite a good reference that Spectrum48 :thumb:
My recording PC is still currently a Dual PIII and still cuts it recording multitrack simultaneously, I do have a P4 board to replace it, just never got round to actually doing it :) Ideally I want to move towards a laptop instead, but I have two high end audio cards that are PCI and PCI boxes for laptops are very very expensive |
