Partial De-cat

I am looking at de cat pipes for my Bugeye, and being of a tight nature, I want to make sure these things actually do anything. The latest one I have seen is for a pipe which replaces the centre cat. What implications will this have come MOT time, does removing one of the cats require any remapping, is there a sensor that will need removing or resiting, and most importantly, will it free up any horses?
Many thanks in advance

i replaced my centre cat on my bugeye..and tbh the only thing i noticed was the exhaust went slightly louder..i didnt feel any increase in bhp. your car wot need remappng if you only remove the centre cat and M.O.T time should be fine cause you still have the main cat. your replacement pipe should the the hole for the sensor. no removing or resetting will be needed

To notice any difference you really need to de-cat the rear pipe and up-pipe and fit a sports cat in the down-pipe, with a re-map you'll still get through the MOT, you'll get more horses and it'll spool up quicker.

Beware though, I've replaced the rear cat with a 3" pipe to complement my 3" exhaust and now the boost controller can't keep up so it seems to surge a little on full throttle, a little worrying at first and no just a pain in the @rse but I've been informed it'll do no damage. When I've done the up-pipe and larger TMIC I'll look at a better boost controller to go in at the same time as the re-map.

Nearly !

Change catted up-pipe for a solid one ! ! worst place for a cat !
Change down-pipe for a 100 cell/inch sports catted version (IMHO) for MOT !
Change last cat for a cat replacement pipe.

Slightly more expense, but passes MOT, hugs the trees, etc.
Should spool quicker and drive nicer, then give a decent increase when re-mapped.
