Idle/Tickover speed
 

How can I adjust the idle/tickover revs on a classic? Is it an easy job?

When I cleaned my idle control valve I found that the two screws on top loosen. This allows the top to rotate and set the idle speed. Worked for me tho there may be a different route.

I always thought there was only one idle screw to play with?

You don't adjust the idle with an idle screw like on many other cars. Not that I've noticed anyway. Idle is controlled by a rapidly cycling solenoid inside the valve and by loosening the two securing screws, you adjust idle by turning it one way or the other.

you don't happen to have a photo of where that solenoid is do you?
I'm trying to get my leggy back on the road & need to adjust idle mix.
Too much fuel swamped cylinders.

What model year is your classic?

The correct answer is to log into the ECU with a select monitor (or emulator) and instruct it to change the idle speed. Fiddling around with the alignment of the idle speed control valve or the throttle position sensor is not the way to go.
