Re-mapping a re-map ????????

:wonder:

Hi all , just wondered if its worth geting my car remapped again , basically its been mapped for just over a year now and she seems to be slightly over-fueling , so firstly is a re-map going to hel and could this further improve my car ,
Also does anyone have a rough idea of costs for a map tweek (so to speak )

Any help will be great

what makes you think its over fueling ?

have you changed anything since it was mapped ?

are you sure it is over fuelling? if so then i would say something is wrong lambda sensor maybe? or the mapping was not done properly in first place.
if it was mapped correctly then i would not bother having the map tweaked unless some more mods have been done since i.e turbo, injectors etc.

map tweaks are usually £100-200 depending on who mapped it originally,if you go to a different ecutek mapper to who did it originally then it will be slightly more, have a look at jgm's site for info.

info is assuming your car is remapped using ecutek

Cheers for the response mate ,

I'm only assuming i'm overfueling as a couple guys who have ollowed me said i reek of petrol when i give a good push on the loud pedal , thats why i drew this conclusion , (if not what else may it be )

The re-map was done by richard bulmer @ tracktive solutions and has been sweet as a nut ever since , b ut just thought after my mates said about the petrol fumes when followin me i thought it was worth an ask

Cheers ,

if you are running full decat then it will smell of fuel out the back,my 2004 wrx smells of fuel out of exhaust mapped last year by jolly green monster and i am 100% sure fuelling etc is all correct.
so in my opinion i would say normal, but to put mind at rest there is no harm in getting the mapper to give it the once over.

If your worried about it then it's probably worth getting it checked, but make sure the ECU isn't reset prior to checking as some of the stored parameters will provide useful info.
If your running an OE ECU, the idle/cruise running may of added fuel either to a poor initial remap, and air leak or something slowley dieing/changing such as the Front 02 sensor.

Your ECU has the ability to add fuel over and above the base map settings i.e it has AF Learning ability.
If say it finds it has to add 10% extra fuel in this area to achieve an AFR of 14.7 (stoich), then it will also apply 10% when on boost.

so it it were mapped to run 11.0AFR at WOT, it will be running approx 10.0 AFR.
It will read slightly richer in the lower gears i.e 1st,2nd,3rd so it could be running in the 9's.

The ECU can add upto 15% before it will give a CEL, IIRC.

When mapping it's best to try an keep this AF Learning <4or5%
