Turbo Timer, trying to fit it as i type, please help asap

hi guys,

im sure this has been asked a hundred times but which cables do i splice? iv got a 97 type r and its an old apexi tt, iv know which of the cables is which on the tt, i can probilly manage the hand brake cable but the others i will strugle with, i need to know which are the ignition 1 and ignition 2 on the car. the instuctions iv got say to Black- Ground/Earth (ecu) does this mean i have to use the use earth or will any earth do? same with the perminant live does it matter where the supply comes from?

Many thanks

Dale.

Right, to start with, i ain't no spark!!

As suggested above the vehicle specific harness wuold be better.

Permenant live, i would go direct to battery and fit an inline fuse.

ign 1 will be a wire that is live on the 1st turn of the key (acc position).

ign 2 the wire will only be live when engine is running.

Use a milti-meter or simlar to find these:thumb:.

I've seen the Apexi instuctions and they do indeed spcify that you use the earth at the ECU, like here:

http://www.apexi-usa.com/content/pdf6175.pdf

but only if you are using the 'O2 sensor signal', otherwise any earth.

If you do use the ECU earth and O2 sensor then the pin outs are also available on that site but all so at here:

JollyGreenMonster.co.uk

if you wish to double check:thumb:

thanks for the reply, mate.

the apexi wiring says to connect the ground wire in another location.

if you check both the pdfs you posted, they provide different locations to connect the ground wire

in the apexi site, they tell you to connect the white wire in pin 21 and the black wire in pin 18

this way i cant read any afr value and the unit acts strange. i might try to replace the ground connection to see if i can find anything.

in the pdf you posted, they say white wire in pin 21 and black in pin 30.

That is why i posted JGM link too.

I would rather go with JGM's pin-outs than them merickan ones.

I'm assuming you have the 3 plug ECU, so the O2 signal wire is No5 on B136 and earth is No12 on B136. (by JGM's pin-outs)

i get you.

jgm might solve my problem while the apexi instrctions (being jdm or usdm) dont seem to work.

thanks a lot. if it works, i will let you know

Thats it!

no go.

both pins (the one provided by apexi and the one in JGM) are ground.

i tried them both and still cant get any afr.

could it be the tt configuration?

it allows to insert mV values and afr values (cant really get why) and i left it as it is.

any hints?

Glowplug 05 September 2009 06:00 PM

Nah, sorry mate. I run a 4 plug ECU with the AFR chopped in so only really got diagrams to go on as far as 3 plugs go:confused:

You could try contacting JGM to try and confirm the pin or start a new thread and see if anyone can help out:idea::thumb:
