After 8 Month engine rebuild she is finally back!!

After mashing the bottom end of the scoob end of last summer it was sent down to Kevin and Andy at AP Motors in Plymouth for a rebuild, well so i thought.

After chatting with Kev about the numerous options i have then scoring the internet for hours on end i eventually went for a forged Axis Racing 2.5 block from the states (Taking advantage of the strong £ at the time)

Then spending a few months sourcing for other parts at discounted rates (again mainly from the states), shipping them all to Kevin to put together i have ended up with my 400Bhp WRX which, to be honest, to me is awesome.

I am rather limted to the power by the gearbox that im currently running but after spending so much on the engine rebuild i have had to stick with the WRX box at the moment.

Next plans will be to upgrade to a 6 speed or an RA box, then with a few other subtle changes and another remap will see where we end up then.

Can i ask how much did you pay for you 2.5 with delivery?

All so how much power have you been told it can take?

By the way the car looks good!:thumb:

The block cost around £2100 including all the shipping costs and import tax etc. I only went for the stage 2 engine, aparently it can handle up to 500BHP but Bob Rawle was only happy to take it up to the 400 mark as its only fitted with standard STi con rods. I would seriously recommend going for the stage 3, an extra few hundread quid but there is so much more possibilities for you mate.

hi h4arry im looking at a 2.5 myself, just had a look on ron's site and today the stage2 block works out £1252 before p&p duty and vat
you say it cost you £2100 so it cost around £850 in duty, vat, and p&p??

cheers mark

I am going back around 6-7 months ago mate, but i know p&P just to the uk was around 300quid, cant remember how much duty is but tax is 7%, then you have your customs charges and costs for a courier to deliver to your location in the uk too. Maybe it was a bit less but i had a few other bits from ROn too. Ill have to dig out all my reciept and check it out

I had a stage 4 build off Ron... EJ22t block ( 2.35 )... His work and service is great... Would use him again...

If you change the gearbox I would go for the six speeder. The 5 speed off an RA is not going to be any better than what you already have IMHO.

The RA would be stronger that his current WRX 5 speed. The 6-speed is strong too, but it's heavier. That being said, I LOVE my JDM 6-speed, feels much better than the 5 speed (wrx).

if you go for a RA box get the longer 5th gear as iv pritty much done the same as you and my tops out at 120mph not good for long roads but country lanes its quick and it gets there very quick indeed altho only running 280bhp it sticks with a friends 400bhp evo

Yeah i suppose thats what ive gotta consider, the acceleration or the top end, if i do any quarter mile runs i will prob run outta steam before the end so think it will be a 6 speed. When you cruisin on the bypass the car feels like it could do with another gear also as its sat right on spool up at 70, and right on the bottom of the turbo at 80.
