vocgwog.exe

Anyone know what this is? It runs as a process on my vista pc and appears to be the cause of full screen Firefox windows full of ads opening up.

Can't find it anywhere in the hard disk or the registry.

Google turns up nothing, if I end the process via Task manager then the pop up Firefox windows stop. Anyone help?

For info i've tried Spybot Search and Destroy, Ad-aware, AVG etc but they find nothing wrong

did you try running them in safe mode?

Nope not yet, i'll give that a go.
Thanks :)

Try downloading and running "hijackthis" This will list all start up programs wherever they are in the registry, and also lists browser plug ins. Look for anything which just doesn't look right and remove it (you can backup all entries first). Virus type entries usually stand out a mile!

if no joy, try trend housecall. I find it pretty good for stubborn spyware.

Thanks for all the advice, I did the Spybot scan in Safe Mode and it's cleared up the problem.
Cheers :)

Did Spybot report what problem it found when you ran it (or put it in a logfile)?

Just for future reference in case anybody else gets the same problem!

It just came up with a load of tracking cookies which I didn't take a note of - seems a bit odd but I guess the spyware was hiding itself as a cookie somehow because once these were deleted it's all fine again.
