WILL I NEED AN UPRATED RECIRCULATING DV/BOV ???

I was thinking about upgrading my OEM DV because, as I understand it, uprated recirculators are better at holding the boost steady and are rated at higher PSI levels, because of their sturdy springs or pistons. The reason for this is I'll be getting an APFC mapped soon with suitable supporting mods (although I think it'll only be mapped to run 1.1 to 1.2bar).

Is the OEM DV perfectly OK for the above mods? A lot of specialists (MRT included!) seem to think it's an advisable 'saftey' mod to do?!? :wonder:... Am I plainly wrong in my thinking on this?

Can anybody advise if I'd definitely need one, and the reasoning, etc.? If yes, then what's the best one for the 92-96 MY Classic?...

Thanks, John.

ino i have run imprezas with dv fitted but for the first time i listened to a mapper who told me the std sti dv was a better choice so i took his advice and i have to agree the car feels alot better and that is going from a HKS VAT valve to a std sti 4 as i have a fmic fitted

if you want the noise then go for a vta but other than that i think it hinders the car than improves it

No, not interested in noise, hence my interest in a recirculating one. VTA ones can, allegedly, upset the fuelling - it's what you might have suffered with your HKS item(?)

From what I've gleaned, the OEM item can be a bit limiting in its performance when running over 1.0bar of boost - is this correct?

The O/E if operating satisfactorily is perfectly OK and certainly not limited to 1 bar or any similar figure.
MRT sell these things to make a profit so their sales blurb may be influenced by the need to make a profit.
