RECIRCULATING DUMP VALVE FOR 92-96 WRX

I need an uprated after-market, all metal recirculating DV/BOV for my 1993MY WRX...

It must follow the same pattern as the black plastic OEM item i.e. the inlet and outlet must be in-line, and the narrow vacuum inlet on top (for ease of a direct swap over using the existing hoses). See attached photo for reference...

Is there something wrong with the existing???

joz8968 16 April 2008 10:04 AM

No mate, there's nowt wrong with my existing one.

I was thinking about upgrading because, as I understand it, uprated recirculators are better at holding boost steady and are rated at higher PSI levels, because of their sturdy springs or pistons. The reason for this is I'll be getting an APFC mapped soon with suitable supporting mods - although I think it'll only be mapped to run 1.1 to 1.2bar.

Are you suggesting that the OEM DV is perfectly OK for the above mods, then? A lot of specialists (MRT included!) seem to think it's an advisable 'saftey' mod to do?!? :wonder:... Am I plainly wrong?

Unless there is something wrong with your existing BOV then you will gain nothing by adding an aftermarket item, unless of course you want a more audible noise on gearchange. You are running relatively low boost.
Nothing wrong with changing the BOV if you like a bit of bling but unless there is a pre-existing problem, do not expect a performance gain.

Cheers harvey. I was just 'worried' that the OEM item could cause possible boost issues at 1.1bar, that's all. Nothing to do with performance gains...

If you still want one, i have a Forge recirculating dump valve that came off my 1994 Wrx, it is exactly like youe picture.
You can have it for £10 plus postage.

TOD, yhpm...

Ha. Just viewed your Scooby, and easily recognise the car - it featured in Total Impreza... plus I was at Zen's last July/Aug time on a sunny Friday, having a service, when I noticed it had turned up. It was parked in front of their shutters. I remember taking some camera-phone pics of her...

TOD, are you there? Cash waiting mate :D...

DUMP VALVE RECEIVED AND FITTED!

Hi TOD.

Got dv okay, cheers. Fitted it this morning (20mins) and looks rather groovey :thumb:... This turned out to be a bit of a 'blessing' actually, as upon fitting, noticed that the dv inlet has two massive splits! (see photos below...)

If you know of anyone that has a phase 1 92-96 replacement (or silicon pattern part) in good nick with no splits, I'm interested...

Cheers, John.
