Sorry but you cannot fit the VN gearboxes to your car without changing the rear diff. You must have a VB gearbox and preferably TY754 VBAAA.

do you know what different on VN or VB gearbox , and i can just buy any VB gearbox can fit on my car, thanks:)

All the gearboxes MY 92 to 00 are interchangeable in that they are physically able to be changed. VB denotes Japanese gearbox and these came with a 1.0:1 drop gear so they have the same diff gear ratio front and rear, usually 4.44 or 4.11 and in some cases 3.9.
VN denotes a UK or European gearbox and for some reason that has never been explained to me, these came with 1.1:1 drop gears. These therefore ran 3.9 front diffs and 3.545 rear diffs giving an overall final drive of 3.9.
You therefore require TY754VB gearbox as that will be better than a TY752VB. You are obviously looking for a Japanese WRX (or STi) MY 99 onwards. TY752VB will fit OK but probably has a less strong casing.
If you find a gearbox and let me have the code I will confirm the ratios.
E-mail me if you have more questions as I may not see your post.

harvy ,i thought the ty754vbaaa was only fitted to the P1 :wonder:

harvey 18 April 2008 12:50 AM

The gearbox in the P1 is exactly the same as the STi 5 and STi 6. TY754VBAAA and from Blu Scoobs post above, we now know that is the same gearbox as in the Twin Turbo B4.
As someone else recently commented, it is a Scooby myth that the P1 had longer legs. The P1 is essentially a UK version of the STi 5/6.
