MY98 WRX Type R RA V-Limited #045/1000

Right down to business...

You are looking at a WRX Type R 'RA' V-Limited (280 BHP model), a very rare car indeed!!! This is an 'RA' lightweight version of the WRX Type R V-Limited's and has the chassis number to prove!!! I have only ever seen one other of these cars and it sold for top money not long ago!!!

I bought this car off a mate (after he blew it up) and I have been doing this car up as my winter project. Now my 22B STi is finally back on the road it is time to sell.

The car has been put back to completely standard form, except some blue silicon hose that were put on the engine by the previous owner, red 4 pot callipers off my 22B STi and my 22B STi backbox.

It is in very good condition for a 10 year old car and it has not had any paint in it's lifetime. It does have some door dings and scratches and really needs a good going over by a paint correction specialist/dent wizard if you wanted to make it look immaculate.

The front and rear bumpers are in a bit of a mess and will need to be resprayed, but I have been quoted £120 per panel to have these done and this can be done if you so wish.

The underside of the car and the engine bay are the cleanest I have ever seen for MY98 car that isn't a show car!!!

My mate paid £7.5K for this car in April last year and he did 3K miles before blowing it up!!! :(

I want offers in the region of £6K and viewings are highly recommended. This car is a cheap way of getting a fully loaded Type R and because it is a WRX with STi power you will also get cheap insurance!!! :thumb:

All questions and PM's will be answered upon my return from work!!!

12 months MOT and 6 months TAX will be included in the sale price!!!

Cheers,

Richy :thumb:

Intimidator 03 April 2008 01:22 PM

How do you now it is an RA?

Normally there should be a sticker on the bumper and they got no electric windows no aircon or?

I can see that it is an V limited!

Richy B 03 April 2008 07:25 PM

It's an RA, the chassis number confirms it...

Yep, RA's don't normally come with electric windows or aircon, but someone has put them back in as optional extra's... :) They don't come with red 4 pot callipers either, does that mean it's not an RA cos of that too??? ;)

Next you'll be telling me all 22B STi's come with aircon!!! Mine don't cos I took it out!!! :p

If you ain't interested in the car, don't bother posting...

Silver Scooby Sport 03 April 2008 07:56 PM

I remember this one Richy was it the car that you picked up on the way to Performance car day last year ? it was a really clean one.... shame to hear it let go on your mate.

fatmanscooby 03 April 2008 08:12 PM

I know this Car and it is a Gem:) Yes Si same one. Good Luck.

Richy B 03 April 2008 09:16 PM

Cheers for the comments Si & Si... :thumb:

Yep is the same one that was at Performance Car Action Day at Castle Combe last year, only difference is that it has had a full detail (clay bar and meguiar's 3 step) by myself since... ;)

I have even done the engine bay, so it is mint... :D

rooferman 03 April 2008 09:22 PM

The car looks ace....it is not an Ra though.....even that some of the sites that list it as an ra from its no.state its an ra ...the 2 door ra doesn,t exist imo

It is a type r v limited as confirmed a few years back as a guy Leonpoole had one on this bbs.

The Bloodline of Impreza STi Version

Still a rare and quality car....:notworthy

RRH 03 April 2008 10:05 PM

It is an RA- the two door RA does exist, just very rare.

Trust us, we know what we're talking about ;)

O.k but here me out........Post this car on Type-RA.co.uk - Home of the Subaru Impreza WRX Type RA, Impreza WRX STi Type RA, Impreza Type RA V Limited, Scooby V. Ltd, visit the WRX forum & Subaru forum and see what results you get..

We have yet to see a 2 door ra....as i stated your car is a wrx type r v limited.

It came with the roof vent and deleted items such as side skirts.Your car has a rear wiper......i have not seen an Ra with a rear wiper. There was a huge debate some years ago on this exact model and the guy contacted Subaru Japan who confirmed it as a Retna bodied type r v limited.

Theres no mention of a two door ra on the official bloodline.

It does not exist....;) ........unless you can prove otherwise.

Adam

Check this thread out....my type r - Type-RA.co.uk - Forum for Subaru Impreza WRX Type RA, WRX STi, Spec-C, S202, Type RA-R

Same model.......

Jam Performance 03 April 2008 10:23 PM

Why is it not badged as an ra then......why has it got a rear wipe...????

Get the applied model code and check it with the Official Bloodline......

The info on applied model codes on Sidc,Katherine and Ken are out of date and wrong.......The 2 door ra is a myth.

This car is type r v limited.......:notworthy

Extremely rare and a good price i will agee with...:notworthy

RS Grant 03 April 2008 10:32 PM

So, are these 276bhp as well then... just without the water spray, dccd, etc that the STi Type-R comes with??

Do you have reciepts for the rebuild & was it just with stock parts (wrx pistons, bolts, crank etc)??

Cheers,
Grant

rooferman 03 April 2008 10:36 PM

GC8E2DD............is this the applied model code?????

big daz2 04 April 2008 11:12 AM

I am interested so not so smart to react that way!
I am searching for an RA 2 doors

I did it to read the opinion of other people if it is or isn't an RA!
I read that they come in 2 doors but never saw it with an airvent like the V limited, but according to the bloodline site they exist

Here is a RA V limited 4 doors but it reads at the back RA.

Pm'd

Richy B 04 April 2008 08:19 PM

Bloody hell, what has been going on??? That will teach me to go to bed early and get up early without turning me computer on!!! :Whatever_ :lol1:

Sorry no offence Intimidator, I thought you were just another ScoobyNetter trying to ruin a simple 'For Sale' post... ;)

OK lets end this arguement now... This car is an RA... As I said the Chassis Number proves it. Now I knew no one would believe me if I just typed it out, so I have been up to the car and taken a picture of the chassis plate today...

Rooferman, as you incorrectly assume it is not a GC8E2DD... ;)

I'll let the pictures do the talking...

http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x...B/DSC00299.jpg

If you can't see the photo, it say GC8E27D... :norty:

RS Grant,

As you have said correctly this does not come with DCCD and Intercooler Water Spray that the STi has. It does however come as standard with a Low Ratio Group N Box, which makes this car very quick indeed with it's 280 BHP output. ;)

My mate who owned the car previous to me put the number 3 rod through the block, after putting a full decat on it and the revving the nuts off it!!! :Whatever_ So I have had to buy a new engine. I managed to get one off "scoobycraig" here on ScoobyNet. I paid £800 for it and then had it fitted at my local Subaru garage (Mantles Trefeglwys Ltd). Both these parties would be able to confirm this. :thumb:

Hope that helps, but anymore questions please ask.

Cheers,

Richy :thumb:

banny sti 04 April 2008 08:41 PM

So it is a 2 door RA V limited :D

Banny

as355f1 04 April 2008 09:22 PM

I would put the price up as its the only one in the world !

rooferman 04 April 2008 09:50 PM

Can you show the site that lists this as an ra.......

Dont get me wrong here as just want to get to the bottom of the 2 door ra....

On the official bloodline the amc GC8E27D does not exist.....however The code closest is クーペWRX type R V-Limited GC8E2DD ....could this be a typo????

At least the thread is getting plenty of bumps.....;)

:)

Richy B 04 April 2008 10:03 PM

LOL, at the thread getting bumps!!! ;)

This may help you - GC8E27D - Google Search

Why does the code GC8E27D not exist on the Official Subaru Technica Internation Bloodline........??????

And if you look at the codes for the E cars......There are three codes the same at the top of the list.....GC8E2DD.

And where is the GC8E27D code...????

The Bloodline of Impreza STi Version

The links on Google are from Scoobynet , Katherine and Ken etc..

Could it be possible they are incorrect and The official bloodline has a typo

Another Bump......:norty:

Richy B 04 April 2008 10:34 PM

These are all good questions and sadly I don't have the answers... ;)

It seems I have in my possession a rarer car than I thought, especially if it can't even be found on the 'official' STi bloodline site... :norty: But then again, we are all human so I will let STi off the hook (but only this one time mind)... :p ;)

BTTT, this is a FOR SALE post you know!!! ;) :D

rooferman 04 April 2008 11:00 PM

Thanks for hearing me out Richy......

Good luck with sale:thumb:

Richy B 04 April 2008 11:16 PM

I'm as interested as you are mate and knowing I own 2 rare cars is a bonus!!! :thumb:

I am sure it will find it's self to a good owner, I've had pleanty of PM's so fingers crossed...

Rikimaru 05 April 2008 03:30 AM

Sorry to wade in here i followed link from another site. I've lived in Japan for 7 years and driven Scoobs for a fair portion of that. Currently drive a Version 5 STi RA Ltd so have a natural interest in all things R/RA.

I will be contacting Subaru Japan for confirmation of this, but gotta say that unless the official Subaru line is way off my guess is Type R for the reasons already stated above. It's hardly rare if 1000 were made, and that being the case i would have come across one either for sale, on the roads or as part of one of the online communities here (of which we are members). I have never come across one.

Will post Subarus answer once i get a conclusive answer from them, and will happily eat humble pie if wrong. Either way it's a great car.

P.s, you are one lucky so and so with a 22B The ONLY car I'd choose over an RA :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy

Richy B 05 April 2008 07:43 AM

LOL, another person who wants to talk about it and not buy it!!! :lol1:

Only joking mate, I am very interested in finding the outcome on this myself. :thumb:

I've had numerous requests for pictures, so more will be taken today... :)
