hi all , my head gasget must be knackerd(engine is presurising) anyone give me an idea of whats involved to put right, with steel gaskets,,,OR a price for doing it ....i can remove the engine no problem..


and would there be any other posible damage.:confused:

Also get a sniff test done on the header tank to see if there is exhaust gases in the coolant

thanks guys, i will do a few more checks,

do you mean just to smell the header tank for fuel( will that mean it is away)

would there be water in the oil?????

Nope, coolant is suck from the system and mixed with a solution which changes colour when it detects Hydrocarbons (i think thats right) from the combustion process .

So colour change = Combustion Gas present = leak between cylinder and coolant system

Im no expert tho thats only from what i have read :thumb:

AFIK you can just take a sample of your coolant to a garage and have them check it for you.

theres alot to do before assuming that the head gasket has failed.
