anyone recommend an american style fridge freezer
as ab ove, seal has gone on the door of our indesit (only 3 years old) so instead of looking for a replacement seal (assumng available) we are looking at a new fridge instead, typically an american style jobbie with water dispenser.
Anyone any ideas of a decent one upto about £700 ? Cheers |

No I can't. If you look at the usable space inside them, they're not a patch on two individual upright units.

MAYTAG SOV626ZB 25.3 CU.FT GROSS CAPACITY ZIGZAG STAINLESS STEEL USA FRIDGE FREEZER from Kitchen Science
A bit over your budget but I can recommend these bad boys. |
I've got a Samsung. Can't fault it. :thumb:
In true 'impulse buy' mode, I did pay a little more than your budget though. |

I have a Samsung and it's utter ****e, even the repair guys who come out every few months say they are. Known fan fault which ices up, sensors fail all the time and the ice maker has stopped working. Don't do it.

Forgot to say if you do get one make sure you pay for the extended warrenty. I did after it was up for renewal.

fridge I have now is only just over 3 years old, and the seals have gone already. Thats an indesit (spelling?) but dont know the model no
|
If you are going to get one - DON'T get one with the cold water dispenser - we were lucky in that we talked to the honest salesman in the shop (Comet - Derby) who said the Samsung FF are good but the dispenser breaks all the time.
(this was the guy who beat the crap out of a Miele washing machine with a pound coin to show how tough they were... in the shop.) |

we got the same.. but £449 at CURRYS, take the extended warranty they give you 10% off.. then two days later cancel the extended warranty. ring HSBC (if you have premier account) and get two years free warranty with them :) winner |
Spend the money ona Maytag or General Electric :)
Otherwise get an extended warranty..... |

Most American style units are 900mm wide - two uprights would be 1200mm. |

I owned it for about a year before things went south with her no longer in doors. If you are interested in it I am supposed to be selling the thing, pm me for details it will need collection, I'm in Hertfordshire. I'll be off for a few days coming up as moving into a little pad of my own and dont have room for this fridge. Otherwise, I have to say it was my single most favourite purchase for the house. Loads of room on the inside. I could fit a crate of carlsberg on the top shelf with space to spare, leaving her loads of room for the food bits elsewhere. |

Not surprising really because they are not as wide.....

We've had a Daewoo DD7098 For about 3 years now and it's very reliable and has enough space for what we use. The water dispenser also does ice cubes and crushed ice.:thumb:
The filters for the water last a good long while and it goes into hibernation at night (runs quietly). We got it from Curry's and at the time it was reduced by a good £200. Yve |
I used to work for Appliance Care who serviced Bosche, Neff, Siemans and Gaggenau - the Gaggy FF's had all the mod-cons - quite pricey, but were among the first to have the ice maker and water dispenser :thumb:
