PS3 - nothing on screen first time its switched on??

Hi guys, As above! I have my PS3 on AV 1 like I had my PS2...but whenever I turn it on, nothing appears on the on the screen. I have to hold my finger on the off button until the light goes red, and then turn it on again to get it to work??? Works everytime this way...but is there something i'm not doing right the first time? Seems a bit strange.

Cheers, Alan

Hi, have you pushed your av cable in far enough behind your tele and PS3 ?. Maybe the cable you are using is knackerd or if your PS3 is in a place with no ventilation it could be overheating. A good idea is to buy a cooling fan if that is the problem.

Could be your T.V's SCART socket. Do you have more than 1? Maybe one of them is set-up differently via the T.V menu. For example some can be set-up to send a signal out to a device like a Video Recorder for TV Plus for example. Or try another SCART connection on the T.V.

Sounds like the ps3 is set for a higher output than your tv can handle

Isn't something to do with the resolution it's set to? perhaps by default it's outputing at 1080p but by holding down the power button it soft resets to 720?

pretty sure it is the settings, check the output and set it to a lower one and try again, the default will prob be set to 1080p.

You have to laugh at the fanboys :D

I own both consoles, the 360 Poo's all over the PS3 from a great height.

I own both too and wouldn't agree with the harshness of that statement, but I do agree with it :)
