I'm in the process of setting up an online shop and its been suggested that the easiest way of accepting credit cards on-line is to use a secure email package that sends the email to my business address in a secure fashion where I can then enter the customers details into my credit card machine swipe machine.

Does anyone have any experience of this, could suggest any packages that may help or have any other suggestions.

You could PGP encrypt the e-mail but few people have PGP installed on their PC.

Be better to keep it online ie sub the CC handling to a 3rd party like WorldPay or NetBanx etc.

You could get the details via a form, pgp encrypt that and send it on. We did it for a financial site - I'll have a chat to the geezer tomorrow.

we've got a few sites on our servers that pgp encrypt a mail before sending it. very tricky to be honest unless you know pgp well. You can get components for IIS that do it for you.

easy way - store the details locally and just view em over an SSL connection.
