Best Discs & Pads for standard car
 

Running a standard 2004 WRX saloon and I need new front brake discs and pads for road use.

Haven't been impressed by the standard set up in terms of confidence or longevity, so want to try a different make. Previously had EBC turbo groove and red stuff pads on a classic which made a huge difference to stopping power, but most people on here don't seem to rate them.

So what would you recommend, remembering that it's only for use on the road, so I'm not paying for carbon ceramics and an anchor ;) I can get my previous EBC set up for about £200, so wouldn't want to spend much more than that.

I'm sure the above has been answered before, but I've given up searching the archives, as most previous posts are for people who appear to only do track days with cars running about 2000bhp (or so they claim).

Correction - previous set up would be about £280. Apparently you need a brake disc for each front wheel - what will they think of next.

I can supply you some front grooved discs for £95 a pair , these come with a 12 month guarantee against warping even if you do track days.

For pads , I can supply you Ferodo DS2500's for £120 a set , these seem to be the most popular ones people go for , but I have started selling Carbonne Lorraine pads after having them on trial for a few months , and they are about the best pad I have tried to date , these are £95 a set. you will not fade these , and they work perfect from cold as they dont need any warming up , the only down side is you can get a bit of squeek just before coming to a stop.
