car stereo fitting trouble.

Anybody had any difficulties fitting an aftermarket stereo?
I have fitted it to the original brackets it sits in fine but the dash facia will not go back over it.
It is sony head unit.I had a kenwood in my previous scooby and that was fine, wondered if only certain ones fit.(newage 06 wrx):wonder:
Thanks.

A lot of stereos have a removable surround that comes off. May need to take this off before fitting the fascia back.
There are loads of posts on fitting stereos on here already which is maybe why people never replied.

Same for me - luckily for me, the JVC unit I bought doesn't look out of place and the surround fits fairly tightly around it.

If it looks really shocking you can always try getting hold of one of those autoleads facia adapters (range from about £5-£20) and then chop it / spray it to fit.... have done it with the wife's Seat Leon and it looks factory now.
