I have a K&N on my 98. The MY98 WRX wagons (mine) and UK cars shared an 80mm MAF.

How's this? Bear in mind it's attached via a metal joiner to the inlet pipe, but basically, yes, the ribbed OE rubber pipe is replaced with a shorter rubber elbow that comes in the box with the filter. MAF is a Z32 model but it's the same dimensions as the standard 80mm 'F' label (purple) MAF that came with the car.
