CPU temp

I know this is probably not thread worthy but my q6600 is showing at 12 degrees which ... er. ... is that even possible ?

djuk 08 March 2008 03:25 PM

Seems low, my Q6600 G0 gives between 25-35 degrees under normal use...

pimmo2000 08 March 2008 03:26 PM

stupid thing, its 20

Download CoreTemp if you want an accurate reading

_Meridian_ 08 March 2008 07:17 PM

CoreTemp is only accurate if in Delta to Tjuction max mode. This is because (AFAIK) this is how the CPU reports the temp to BIOS. Unfortunately Intel hasn't actually told anyone what Tjunction max actually is, so if you go to normal temp display mode CoreTemp guesses what that value is, and subtracts the Delta figure to give you a temp. Of course, if it has guessed the wrong value then that displayed temp will be wrong.

The same is true of ALL temp monitoring programs as that same value is the basis of all of them.

Well the one I'm running now is showing each core at a max of 23 so I'm ok with that. The MB temp is 27 which considering all the pretty coloured fans is about right.

So you think your CPU is four degrees colder than the inside of the case? I assume you have water cooling, or something other than air, because that's impossible with air cooling.
