I'm looking for a cheap 240-110V stepdown transformer to power some US equipment 30W+ would be sufficent.

These things are dead cheap in the US, but seem pretty expensive over here.

Does anyone know were I could get one for less then 30 quid, the cheaper the better though obviously.

Thanks

Michael

Michael,

Maplin sell them but the cheaper ones don't appear on their web site:

http://www.maplin.co.uk/

They (did?) sell a plug-in adapter suitable for small appliances (I bought three for U.S. DVD players last year).

I would try calling your local store.

Thanks

Gavin

I'm with Gavin, have a look at maplins. My dad has some stuff he brought back from the USA and is using one of maplins current convertor things, seems to do a pretty good job.

What happens to the frequency difference?

Some of the tool hire places sometimes sell off old stock. All building site stuff runs on 110v,so they always have a good stock rotation.
