Flywheel at clutch change

I am finally getting around to getting the clutch replaced:luxhello:
I have been told many things about the flywheel which will be replaced as I cant afford any down time while it is getting skimmed.
Should I buy Lightened/balanced one from API or is it safe to buy a second hand l/b flywheel.
I would prefer to get a new one but pennies are getting tight.(trying to hide it from the wife without her noticing pennies going missing):brickwall

Buy a second hand standard flywheel and get it skimmed before your car is booked in,That way you can simply get them swapped over,You may want to buy a spigot bearing too as they usually u/s.

Down time should be minimal as most Subaru specialists will have skimmed flywheels ready and waiting. It's really down to what you can afford, but either way in your position I would not buy a second hand flywheel unless its been skimmed.

We have stock of OE skimmed flywheels here.

There are no specialists near me, so I have asked a friend who has done a few before to do it for me.
Are all classic flywheels the same

Lightened flywheels are OE flywheels ground/machined down where you can take them down to around 6.5-7kgs before they get too weak.

Billet lightweight flywheels are specifically designed for the weight and are stronger.

Its best to have another flywheel to hand to make the job easier. Either a freshly skimmed OE one from someone like Slowboy Racing or we can supply brand new Billet Lightweight Flywheels for under £200.

Cheers,

Bob

I have a skimmed/lightened API flywheel and it is really nice, about 8Kg iirc.
AP Organic clutch is good too!

I have a brand new unused flywheel (and pressure and centre plate) for a classic... Would you like to buy it (or them)?
