What if i crashed????

I have a MY03 WRX wagon with side airbags aswell as the front facing ones. When I get in the car the light on the dash comes on as expected until i put my seatbelt on. However i do not get a warning if someone sits in the passenger seat. It doesn't really concern me not getting the warning as the only person that sits there is my missus and she puts her belt straight on.

What I need to know is if I was in a crash would the passenger airbags still deploy even without thinking someone is sitting there? I've checked the plug under the seat and all appears to be well, does anyone have any other ideas or do i not need to worry?

Thanks
Andy.

I don't know how the system works exactly but they'd be stupid to make a safety system (your air bag) dependant on another. i.e. if the second system failed, as you suspect, the air bag wouldn't go off. Thats crazy

My guess is the air bags would go off anyway regardless of whether someone was sat in the front seat or not

Someone will be along with the same car as you soon. They will know. Or you can call a dealer and ask

The seat belt warning light is nothing to do with the airbag system. The airbags will go off whether the seat is occupied or not.

There's only seat belt warning for the driver, not the passenger.
