Drain box without drain plugs 6 speed?

Hey,

Now this might seem a daft question but will make sense shortly...

Is it possible to feed a big into the dip stick tube of the 6 speed and drain the oil to the same level as using the drain plugs or must I get underneath it?

Reason being, car off road at present, cant get underneath, lots of jobs to do before next stage of tuning and want to knock another one of the list of "to do's". I was thinking of using a suction pump of some type with long pipe going into box and then measure oil that comes out. Trouble is I know the box has two drain points so means there's two oil containment areas.

Anyone done anything like this before? Dont care if it takes few hours to do

I would say it's virtually impossible!
Assuming you could actually reach the bottom of the box directly below the tube, which I imagine is highly unlikely, you still would'nt remove all the oil from all parts of the gearbox/diff. unit. There's a reason for having two drain plugs on the 6-speed! You would only need to raise the car a relatively small amount to give access to the gearbox cover and drain plugs.

yes it's possible, some vauxhall cars dictate the engine oil is sucked out like that.

whats the next stages :)

I've done this before with my other eco car, Ford TDCI (as that had no drain plugs as such, just top up) - didn't get it all out though due to internals preventing the pipe from going to the bottom.

Just wonder what the dip stick route is like to bottom of gearbox on 6 speed? Anyone got pictures of one in various stages of strip?

from memory it is fairly clear to bottom. But you'll never get every drop out as there is a "sump" seperate from the main box with about half a litre in.
