Not sure. you never bothered replying to your last thread.... bit of a hint, if you ask for advice, get it and then say thanks, people are more inclined to help the next time you ask....

Ok cool,

Sorry about that guys

BigAl024 28 February 2008 03:28 PM

It looks nice yes. Low milage for that age too.

fivetide 28 February 2008 03:31 PM

looking at it - hell of a journey. looks very nice. My concern would be that it has had a few engine mods and has a ecu "allowing unleaded fuel" that doesn't sound quite right (happy to be corrected) basically, the last thing i would want to do if upping the power and modifying is start running on cheap fuel... would be better if it had got a custom map.

have you checked insurance too? also that exhaust would be very very loud i suspect. Do you like your neighbours? :)

not sure about the ecu

Since i dont know much about cars etc i never really picked it up. Yake it you think this could be potentially harmfull?

Not sure about the exhaust. Would it be easy to just fit a silencer part in the system?

Cheers

ENGINE:
Derestricted & converted to MILEage (The correct mileage - Old mot's etc to prove) not so bad, good mod really

New Apexi Induction Kit (O.E stuff all here too!) A CAIK isn't usually a good idea (at least on newer cars thanks to MAF issues. Not sure if this will have same problems

New Apexi Alloy Elbow

Turbosmart Dump Valve seen as chav and again, can add similar MAF/overfuel engine destroying action if not mapped for

Turbo Smart Bleed Valve

Turbosmart Thingy that stops cold air going OVER the rad, and sends it thru it! Can't remember it's name!

Z4 ECU (Allows Unleaded Fuel, and runs 1 bar boost) so that's a none custom map, upped the boost, running lower quality fuel on a car that is JDM and designed orignally to run on 100 octane go go juice. Might be me but this does not sound good

Awesome sounding Stainless Exhaust System, comprising of:
De-Catted and Wrapped Down Pipe (Large mouthed)
De-Catted Centre Pipe
5" Slash Cut TSL Firestorm Backbox. so you'll need a friendly MOT man and some ear plugs and maybe some new neighbours. A full de-cat - no remap can again cause overboost issues if it isn't mapped for. you'd need a new backbox to quieten it down a bit

Lambda Link inc. Full instructions (Not yet fitted)

Air-con Compressor removed due to weight/power sap, and plans to fit FMIC. so no aircon then and no sunroof

on the plus side it looks very very clean. check if it has had a spray though, unfortunately a lot of JDM cars have had battles. See if the original auction sheet is with it.

Again, happy to be corrected on any of these. Would still recommend Boris_B's wagon if you want something a bit different.

It does look a nice car but if you hunt around you can find MY97 STI's (facelift version) for similar money which are better specked cars.
Take a look at mine for an example. :norty:

Would echo these comments exactly. Looks very good for that age, including engine bay...............does appear to be well looked after. I would be slightly concerned at the mods without a remap...............but very alarmed with the statement of ecu allowing use of 'unleaded' fuel (assuming this means normal rather than super unleaded). This is a JDM.

As others have said you could get a newer model for similar money and carry out mods to a standard you are happy with. I would want receipts showing it was done by a respected tuner.

Too much money IMO + i wouldn't want a Scoob that's got a bleed valve fitted! MY99's can be had for that money :)
