charity track day

Right then people

i am thinking of trying to arrange a charity track day for cancer research as i lost my father to pancreatic cancer last year.

I was thinking of setting it up at BEDFORD AUTODOME to take place sometime in the summer

as yet i have no idea of price, but i am hoping they may reduce the cost as it is for charity, and i was thinking to keep it within the subaru sites, so on here, sidc, p1woc, type r forums. as this is just a call out to see if anyone would be interested as i am sure one of the first things that i will be asked is how many people/cars will be likely to be involved..

so if you would be interested obviuosly depending on price could you please COPY the NAME LIST into you reply post and put your name down on this list along with your user name and year/model so i can start getting this rolling.

many thanks

guys been on the phone and most places seem to have a 102db limit, only a few have a 105db

now i am not too clued up on this how do you know if you car is over that as the last thing you want is to pay turn up and not be aloud to run.

there seems to be two choices one is to hire the track for the whole day which is costly seems to be around april or sept-nov would be around 3.5k-5k running 35-45 cars but price would go up if more cars were running as they would need more marshalls, insurance etc etc, if it were in june-august would be up to 9k,

the other option is to enter on a open track day which seem to come in at 109-199 quid each, but i have been offered discounts depending on the more cars we bring.

but these figure only covers the event cost and makes no money for the charity.

so i need some feelers please would you all be up for a

complete day hire?
or
oragnised open day already?

as for date i was thinking for september or october due to most people are away in the summer months, or there are shows and events on already so not as many people will be around
so would sometime in sept-oct be good?

as for raising the money i ws thinking that the day itself will end up costing as if you were to go on your own maybe slightly cheaper but to raise money how about saying either make a donation off your own back (to me at however much you wish to donate then i will collect it all and send it in) or a set figure of 20,30,40,50 quid (which ever people think is fair again sent to me to collect it all then i will send it off)

if i get can some opinions i can start to sort it out

please please please people need some response to this or it will never ghet of the ground

Bedford trackdays are mostly 98db and VERY strict (which is OK for all UK's and UK PPP'd cars but can be issues for any Scoob louder than that ;))

It has with driveby sensors arround track but will do driveby test prior to events ;) you will get Black flagged and sent home,

Bedford is one on the best circuits to start on as a Novice IMHO

Some of the older airbases/airfields enable you to race there, I know there is one about 5miles from Norwich which has run a couple of events I've been to before.

RAF marholms got a charity event coming up which is £70 per person so that gives you an idea of what can be done..... loads of planning needed though !!!

You could also try and tap up companies for sponsorship such as Scoobynet :lol1: or more likely parts companies / tuners / importers etc etc if you can get enough people going they'll probably be happy to pay a couple of hundred quid to have a stand there where they can pitch / sell their stuff.

I would of thought Bruntingthorpe would be a good place to contact, they allow it to be booked for other charity track events so are used to this sort of thing.

There is a fantastic circuit that can be set up as well if you know where to put the cones ;)

You might want to consider asking people with unusual or exotic cars to come along to give people rides as a way of raising money for charity as well.

Regards,

Robin

I've done Bedford 4 times and a VERY VERY nice venue and Circuit (although we had big problems with noise at one SIDC trackday :( UK cars wre fine :D ) Normally about week day £150 to weekend £240.

Bedford has 2 noise meters around the Track and the Council/ Villagers have 2 more on boundaries of the Track if the Council one triggers they can close down Bedford IIRC

MotorSport Vision - A New Era in British Motorsport

The Track does a Static test before the event starts,( a driveby day before is normally available) this Static test is a Guide to see if you get on the Track ;) but if pass static test it will count for nothing if you fail the Driveby meter

To indicate my type20 with Miltek was measured at a 98dg day @ Donington
Static was 96db but 104db on driveby hence I was excluded
