WR1 vs 03/04 PPP/JDM Sti
 

Can you help, looking at Sti ownership in July funds looking at around 15k. Should i blow the lot on a Wr1 or go for a 03/04 PPP/Jdm Sti and cash in the bank. Is the Wr1 a better car ? is it worth the extra cash ?. Any advice would be appreciated.

The WR1 has all the goodies on it but if you can get a MY05PPP, PHP & PF7's at simular price 05 would be better buy IMHO

Personally a Sorted 03/04 STi JDM would be better spec and quicker than the WR1, A 03/04 Spec C would eat it alive.

Definitely worth spending the extra on an 05 if you can stretch to it. I'd be looking at a JDM STi at the least, but preferably a JDM based special such as SpecC, T25/20 (possibly SpecC based) or a Type RA.

A Spec C like mine is probably £15k ish. :( for me & :) for you if you can find someone selling ...

I'd get the STi over the WR1. Keep that extra money for mods, there's always something you'll want to change. And if not, then it can go towards fuel. :)

get a couple of insurance quotes , the wr1 could be a lot cheaper, just something to think about,

Thanks, seems a WR1 is a lot cheaper to insure as it not being an import. I am 34, 16 years ncb, garaged and can get it for around £450 Jdm looking at closer £900. Are servicing costs similar Wr1 vs Jdm, being a import does that mean servicing can only be carried out by a specialist.

All depends on insurance Company "Many" don't charge any difference between JDM's and UK Cars (My JDM 350bhp is priced exactly the same as a 310bhp WR1 ;)

be very careful of "Online" quotes for a Subaru, make a phone Call to double ccomfirm it's correct model etc. I had great quotes not many have been right

both 10km/12months (simular price as both have DCCD cheaper if Non DCCD) and both recommend Engine intermediate services 5Km/6months.

I take my JDM to a "Subaru Specialists" which is also normally cheaper than a UK Dealerships.

Depending where you live may have more Specialist than Dealers in a 50 mile radius.

It does depend on Waranty, UK are 3 years (extendable) JDM 1 year(extendable)

If you use your car for everyday use and shift the family about a jdm sti is the one to go for. If you fancy something a little more extreme go for the spec-c.

I'm 4yrs older than you :( & pay £480 for a JDM Spec C so not much more than the UK WR1 :) Just need to know who to get quotes from ;)

£17K and you can have mine LOL. I use A-Plan and pay £516 fully comp on my JDM STI.

Spent a few quid on her. Mixture of standard an after market parts on the spec list. Running like a dream at the mo. Quick as lightening too :norty:

The servicing intervals for the WR! are 5k. although this is just oil and filter change. the reason the insurance is cheaper is because it has been fitted with the PPP from the factory, so it's not classed as a mod

I opted for the WR1 over the STi/Spec C model etc due to the limited edition resale value, the colour which I love, the creature comforts included, its a UK car, the performance package as a whole and the overall look of the car. Like the P1 before it, I'm a bit of a badge whore, and as such would like to be a little different when standing out from the typical blue and gold of the Subaru's on the streets. No disrespect, obviously, but the ice blue for me is stunning.

I realise there are faster cars out there, but then thats the case with any car; there will always be something better and faster somewhere.

The WR1 for me is everything I need, especially with a 4 month old baby to think about too :)

Following the remap, I think circa 350bhp is quite enough for the time being :)

Excellent! If you like it, that's good enough.

Enjoy it. You wont have to worry so much about depreciation in this current market, which is nice.
