PPP

Hi
I have recently bought a new Sti with PPP. If it was a standard Sti my insurance would be £375, if it was an RB320 it would be £375 but as the PPP is fitted as non standard although it is affectively the same power as a RB320 my insurance is £600. This seems absolutely ridiculous surely there is an insurance company that recognises the car's power and sees it at least the equivalent of a RB320? Wish I had bought an RB320 now.

Any recommendations for a company with common sense?

Just tell the insurance company it's a STI 305.

Some insurance companies recognise PPP as factory fitted. Others see it as an aftermarket engine modification and charge the earth.

Happened to me on the first year of ownership.

They couldn't get anywhere near the £600 quoted by Direct Line

A Plan were good for me too, so good that the wife is now with them as well. Their office is in the UK, they know what they are on about, you never have to 'Press 1 for...' and the phone is always answered quickly. That's what i'm after.

Heard only good things about Keith Michaels though too.

If you ring Keith Michals, you must ask for Gary Moulson :thumb:

Mines only a smidge over that with all mods declared and another driver.

Maybe they're better for modded cars.

I made the move to A-plan years ago and the Mrs a year later, when I bought the STI PPP last year they beat everyone including Moley (only just mind) We have both had no fault claims whilst with them and never had an issue with them not doing what they say or anything else.
Thumbs up from me!!!
Cheers

Greenlight - £25 quid admin fee for me to get the PPP added to the policy

GazTheHat 13 February 2008 03:04 PM

Admiral wanted to charge me £50 for fitting Thatcham approved Supaglass film.

They said they wouldn't cover any modifications at all, that included PPP / TSL333. Needless to say i cancelled that policy.

Ditto - it's nice in this day and age to actually speak to someone from the moment the phone is answered ie no fecking machine!!!

Me and the missus are both insured with A Plan and found them excellent to deal with and the cheapest around - nice people who you can actually chat to and know their stuff.:)

A Plan didn't charge me anything for my cat-back exhaust either, no admin charge or anything :smug:
