My STi Version 4 Type RA
It's been a while since i've posted some pictures in here and i've been busy on the car recently so here goes...
The car's been off the road since December and hardly driven since it was mapped for the usual '380' mods (20G, STi8 TMIC, headers, AVC-R, Power FC etc etc). it actually landed up on the back of an RAC truck twice, this was eventually traced to a fault with the Apexi PFC that had just been fitted. Luckily Andrew Carr offered me a deal on a used PFC i couldn't refuse and Andy Forrest came to my resuce by uploading my map onto both Andrews and the (now-repaired) original PFC. Since the car was off the road i decided to swap my SX Regulator for a Fuelabs one, find some carbon mirrors that actually fit the car and also flip the alternator. As if that wasn't enough the car was also due its MOT test on the 4th of Feb... Back in January i gave up modifying OEM alternator brackets and decided to make my own based on a friends design. I had the parts cut on a water-jet machine before turning the shaft on a lathe and welding it all together. Hopefully the powder coating will hide my welding sins...! http://www.carldavey.co.uk/random_pics/feb_087.jpg Tensioning mechanism using some old spherical rod-ends i had lying about. Due to the design of the main support bracket there's not a great deal of scope for adjustment, hence many journeys were made to my local motor factors to try and suss out the best length of belt to use! http://www.carldavey.co.uk/random_pics/feb_088.jpg The engine bay featuring the Fuelabs reg. http://www.carldavey.co.uk/random_pics/feb_089.jpg Clean for the first time in months, but still missing an alternator belt. Will it pass the MOT with no cats?? http://www.carldavey.co.uk/random_pics/feb_081.jpg Now with an alternator belt fitted and fresh from passing the MOT test this morning, no cats required! :D http://www.carldavey.co.uk/random_pics/feb_082.jpg http://www.carldavey.co.uk/random_pics/feb_083.jpg http://www.carldavey.co.uk/random_pics/feb_084.jpg http://www.carldavey.co.uk/random_pics/feb_085.jpg Carbon wing mirrors that actually fit. These are the eBay ones from Automax Racing, although they only use two screws (rather than three) to secure them to the door frames they are far better than the ones i had previously (they looked the same as the Scoobyworld ones but i cannot say for sure). http://www.carldavey.co.uk/random_pics/feb_086.jpg New battery and custom battery tray coming up next before the air filter comes in for some attention. The fun never stops. :D |
Nice well thought out mods :thumb:

|
Looking good Carl... you have been busy there :thumb:
|
the altenator looks good
|
nice one mate
BTW they`re not the same as the scoobyworld ones. Apart from the "carbon" they`re a slightly different shape too ;) |
Thanks guys. :)
TG, you've misunderstood, the piss-poor mirrors i had previously appeared to be identical to the Scooby World ones. These ones are a far better product. |
oh ok sorry mate lol, they do look good though
|
Please forgive my thickness, but why do you flip the alternator?
Also, when you come to sell that car, contact me. I'm having it. :D |
I've flipped it as a pre-emptive measure. I'm planning a revised inlet manifold so am clearing room (the reg will be moved later on).
