BHP GAIN??ANY ROUGH IDEAS:)

Hi folks:)

I currently have a 03 wrx impreza bug eye.

I have just fitted a hks ssq dump valve, cold air induction kit and magnex sti downpipe, 3" middle section and 4.5"tail on the car.

Just wondering what kind of gains i can expect with and without a re map.

I am more interested in knowing without a re map as i am SKINT after buying that DP:)
Cheers fellas:notworthy

fit a Turbonator, much better bang for buck. :lol1: :lol1:

would be wary of running with cold air without a remap as the fuelling will be affected.

cold air induction kit is a bad idea without mapping. can cause engine to run lean and go pop

mellinator 12 February 2008 04:36 PM

Is it safe for my engine to run without a remap guys?

Any ideas of bhp gain without a remap
cheers guys

I would refit the original airbox at least until the day of the remap just to be safe

mellinator 12 February 2008 04:40 PM

im quit worried now.
My mate who works in a garage and deals with these cars day in /out has assured me that it wont affect the engine at all.
Any further thoughts folks?

tiny gsy 12 February 2008 04:41 PM

if you`re unsure, get it on the rollers to at least check its not running lean

mellinator 12 February 2008 04:45 PM

cheers mate.
The car has only done 35k on clock, i bought the car from subaru a year ago.
It has had new timing belt, new gearbox- i really have done everything to look after it.
Its 1 day out its mot as well and full service.
Do they not check for lean fuel issues at mot?

cheers

tiny gsy 12 February 2008 04:46 PM

sorry mate I haven`t a clue as we don`t have MOT`s over here, better to be safe than sorry though ;)

mellinator 12 February 2008 04:46 PM

thanks :)

I'd be getting that remapped pronto.

Not only to make the car safe but to get the best out of the modifications that you have added.

Is the dump valve a VTA one? If so it will make the car run badly as scoob ECUs are designed for recirc DVs

I put a CAIK on mine, but kept it < 3000RPM until mapping day. When it started it was running well lean.

An IK killed my classic.

Is your mate gonna pay for the rebuild if it goes wrong? I'd get it mapped, keep it off bost or take the CAIK off.

I reckon without mapping you're lOOking at about 10-15bhp.

Echo others. Indeed same advice given here

https://www.scoobynet.com/scotland-2...ugh-ideas.html

can't fault you for wanting second, third etc opinions though.

He is wrong.

The cold air kit will mean your maf readings are incorrect (the maf needs re-scaling). There is every chance your car is running dangerously lean at present. Take it off now. Have it installed on the day of the map.

RE the other mods, gans will be v small till the map as the ECU will be trying to adjust fueling etc to maintain the status quo.

thanks again folks

mellinator 12 February 2008 09:17 PM

If i take the cold air induction kit off will the car run okay untill the re map with the decat exhaust system...ie less risk to a blown engine?? cheers

Bez300 12 February 2008 09:25 PM

Your engine light might come on cos of flow metre. mine did. I just got RE-MAP. afford it now not in a blown engine

BHP Gains

With full DE-CAT
Hyperflow TMIC
3 &1/2 " Pipe
Un-equal headers
Typhoon induction kit into the wing
ECU-TEC re map. Essential.
Went from 227 BHP to 295 at 5600 RPM
and 370 Lbs f t at 3200 RPM
Easy to drive
Nice to slide.
This is from a 2.5 WRX but you should get same BHP:thumb:
