PPG 5 speed conversion (helical cut)

Hi

My OEM GT Turbo transmission as damaged so I'm looking for a solution, either a STI 6 speed or a PPG conversion. I'm looking for a gearbox that can handle 400 hp and 500 nm without problems on road and trackdays.

Does anyone have experience with a 5 speed (1-4 gear) PPG gearbox? Noisy? Comfortable? Reliable? High transmission loss? Disadvantages? Worth the money?

Thanks.

Drove a classic with this gearbox late last year. Noisey as an OEM gearbox (quiet!)
Changed gear as OEM (sysnchro version of the ppg)
Tough as old boots it seems. This box was 3 years old.
Trans loss? about the same as stock IMHO
Disadvantages? Costs £3K when finished.

6 Speed box:

As above, cost £2K
You need the right rear diff so add a further £400 to buy and fit
6 speeder weighs about 30Kg more
6 Speeder allows a bigger clutch over the 5 speeder.

call David at Welcome to the API website for more info/prices. Others offer a similar service but I know API as a customer.

Thanks for the info.

I have already spoken to David, but he hasn't seen any UK/EURO spec STI transmission for some time and the one's he normally get are JDM's and they're also rare due to high prices overthere, unfortunately.
