Hi all,

I need to know names, addresses and numbers of any companies who import UK spec cars from Europe. A friend of a friend is looking to buy either a Forester or a Land Rover Freelander (Yes I know and I've tried, but these are the two she is set on). To be honest she is more keen on the Freelander, but I'm at least trying to persuade her that the Forester is worth a look.

Anyway back to my point. If any of you know of any companies who do it all for you (she doesn't want to do any of her own legwork/take any risks) then can you post here please. A couple we have found on the net already are offering a £2000 saving on the Land Rover, but I'm sure there may be some even better savings to be had.

Regards,

tiggers

P.S. Before anyone shouts I would have done a search on the BBS, but the search function still seems to be missing.

Try Iain Litchfield (Litchfield Imports), link is normally above for website or call him on 01242 260406. He can source anything from Europe at the most competetive prices.

You could try DK Car Importing at

Buy a copy of Car Import magazine. Lists virtually all of the import companies in the UK plus tel no.s websites etc., as well as companis and contacts in Europe.

I'd look into doing it yourself if I were you though, save even more money. Don't be put off by what you get told about paper work etc., it's a piece of p1ss. I imported myself, and paid for aircon with the money that I saved from avoiding an import company.

There's loads of info available for people who wish to do it themselves.

For a Forester, I'd recommend that you look no further than going direct to the garage that supplied my car: Autobedjrif van der Velde. Speak to Gertjan (pronounced *phlegm* hhhhetian) on +31 186 661556.

Going direct to the dealer is a good experience, as long as the dealer is good. Gertjan is tops.

Nick.

Not wishing to blow my own trumpet or anything but I work for an import company and there is a lot more to be saved on a freelander than £2000.

Leave a contact address and I'll contact your friend for a chat if you wish.

I shall be putting and ad banner on the BBS in the next couple of weeks so I hope nobody minds me posting this.

thanks

Louisa,

Never thought about EVO - stupid eh! as I have nearly every copy, thanks for the nudge.

S,

I thought there might be more to be saved than £2K. Anyway you can email me at chrber2000@yahoo.com if you would be so kind. Let me know your phone number and I'll give you a call so we can have a chat. My friend doesn't currently have an email address so it's best to go through me for the time being.

Cheers,

tiggers.

Tiggers,

If you are in the NW there is an independant Land Rover specialist (K-Motors) who also import LRs, they sent me a price list recently and there were BIG savings to be had, I have only really used them for Servicing and Parts for my wife's Disco but they are very good.

They also advertise in LRO, I'll have a look and send you the details.

AndrewC...

PS. I am 'died in the wool' Land Rover fan and was totally opposed to the Freelander when it was introduced, however, having driven both the Forester and the Freelander I have to say the Freelander is the better all round car for the money, although I haven't driven a Forester off-road YET!

Alliance car imports of Baxenden seem very reputable and I've heard good things about them from my work mates. Totalise did a magnificent job via Eurekar for me saving £6000 on a DBM MY00 although prices seem to have gone up somewhat (£3500 for new model!!). It seemed to me that shopping around was a good idea as certain import firms were £1500 or more depending on the make requested. I hope that this is of some use. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

WAYSIDERS 02 January 2001 03:42 PM

Try Morgan Moss International Limited. Tel/fax 01530 222577 or 07931 794455. Victoria is the best in the business and dead straight - no bullsh1t promises. MMI are also listed in the Car Import Guide Directory.
