NEED TO DERESTRICT MY WRX IMPORT HELP

i have a subaru wrx 1996 inport which i need to derestrict can any one help me thank u

Hi,
i got one of these, not had the car dyno'd yet but defo big increase in power and it takes the 112mph limit off, the biggest bonus for me is to be able to run on 97 octane fuel as its a 50 mile round trip to my nearest shell!
I stuck with it for a week or 2 and got one for £65 which i will soon recoop.

SCOOBY PRO ECU UPGRADE for Subaru Impreza...280BHP..... on eBay, also Engine Tuning Parts, Performance Tuning Parts, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 09-Feb-08 21:09:02 GMT)

im confused,
i thought the only way to de-restrict a 95/95 WRX With the speedo cable was to fit a speedo convertor, from kph to mph.

that chip is for uk cars isnt it ?

wrx already have 280 bhp ish.

J0NTHELEGEND 06 February 2008 11:55 AM

yes i thought that the wrx inport which i have is 240 bhp the sti is 280 hjow do u do it

Glowplug 06 February 2008 12:06 PM

buy the chip, it is already mapped, it comes with the DIL socket incase you dont have on fitted (mine did not) so you soldier the DIL in then fit the chip, reset the ecu (if you have it unplugged for more that 30 min it reset anyway) and away you go.
Fitting a speedo converter will not derestrict your motor it will mearly show your speed in mph instead of kph!!

not quite true old chap.

it doesnt de-restrict the car as such, just moves the 180 KMH restriction to 180 MPH !

so,fittin the speedo convertor WILL remove the 112 mph limit.

PolarPerformance does a standalone chip or a fully remappable daughterboard.
Do a search on here for comments or speak to Enduring Solutions Limited (they have a list of dealers)

my appologies.i stand corrected. IMO still better off with chip/remap

Yeah sure it safe, if you read the Polarperformance link above, it goes something along the lines of,
"The 27C1028 is the simple and most cost effective upgrade for those with standard or mild modifications to their vehicle. This solution was used by Subaru and Prodrive to add Group'N' and Prodrive Performance Packs to a Standard Road Car."
Mine works a treat!!
