Cloverfield

What an awesome film. Went to see it last night. Highly recommend it. The sounds are awesome and make the film what it is. Must see film! Only with decent surround sound tho!

Sonic' 02 February 2008 09:44 PM

I want to watch this too

It looks good from the trailers, and is being raved about everywhere

D-an-W 02 February 2008 10:11 PM

Just back from seeing it myself, I have never been in a (full) cinema that the audience was so quiet in, silent even!

bioforger 02 February 2008 11:35 PM

I thought it was cack, whatever heh :)

RS Grant 03 February 2008 12:43 AM

Is it about mutant rats?? ....I saw the extended trailer for it and thought I saw two life-size rats attacking a woman behind a screen, and I hadn't been drinking. :lol1:

Cheers,
Grant

Boro 03 February 2008 01:38 AM

Nope, not about mutant rats, although there are rats in the sewer.

Abdabz 03 February 2008 10:37 AM

If its filmed on a video camera, the sound should be pap... Unless it's not real... Hmm...
Seriously, the Blair Witch must have been working out to throw the statue of liberty's head about :D

LG John 03 February 2008 10:52 AM

Saw it last night and absolutely loved it. Very well done and no patriotic american crap (i.e. the little guy figures out what the military can't and saves the day in the name of the US of A)

bugeyeandy 03 February 2008 10:11 PM

Saw it just an hour ago, don't quite know what to make of it. Half of me thought it was crap but I also think it's awesome.

Lots of laughing in the cinema, especially at the end.

Only annoyance for me was the guy holding the camcorder shouting "Rob" about a million times through the film :(

hux309 03 February 2008 10:35 PM

Very abrupt ending, certainly screaming out for a sequel as it takes you along leaving you to try and work out when in hell is going on.

Good film on the whole.

Good film on the whole.

A sequal? did you watch the same ending as me? ;)

I thought it was a great film, loved the way it kept skipping back and forth to what was originally on the tape.

Very well done. A must see.

I was thinking the same thing.........

perhaps they have superpowers like superman which allow then to..............:Whatever_

After note....... I left the cinema felling very drained and almost feeling numb! never had a film do that to me before!!!

B0DSKI 04 February 2008 03:18 PM

I Thought it was a right load of old Pony, and as for the ending :nono:

kingofturds 04 February 2008 06:15 PM

I thought it sucked balls, the person holding the camera must of had epilepsy because he was waving it around like a maniac.

finalzero 04 February 2008 06:43 PM

pile of ****e, the view from the camera throughout the whole film was just frustrating and nausiating, people actually left the cinema half-way through the movie... not good

gallois 04 February 2008 06:59 PM

if it is like the blairwitch camera-work, then i cannot watch as i will vomit, even a few mins of fast panning has me turning green:freak3:

No point in me seeing it now then ..... :D

I felt sick within the first 5 minutes. The camera was all over the place. Couldn't focus on anything for more than a few seconds. Spent most of the time with my eyes closed. I don't know how anyone can actually concentrate and take in footage like that. Felt rough for about 2 or 3 hours after. May be i'm just a pussy ?

kingofturds 04 February 2008 09:05 PM

Only the 2nd time I have ever seen people get up and walk out halfway through a film.

Boro 05 February 2008 12:01 AM

Gotta admit i felt a bit weird for the first 5mins, after that, it was all good.

I read somewhere the sequel is the same film, but from another persons perspective. Thats gotta be a 1st!

spider 05 February 2008 09:43 AM

Yup, I read that too - isn't there a bit on the bridge where the guy filming turns to see another guy filming him, then the ship & the statue of liberty?

That would be interesting. I think it would be very hard though to make the film based on just another civilian trying to get out the city. I was thinking the sequal would be possibly from a soldiers point of view, the black soldier that helped them out in the health centre maybe. They gave him alot of characteristics as he helped them out when he didnt have to.

Boro 05 February 2008 11:55 AM

Also heard, dunno how true this is. At the end of the film, something is heard backwards, saying "He's still alive" :?

Snazy 05 February 2008 12:38 PM

im interested by it, but jumper is the one i wanna see right now.

Well, after sitting through about 12 minutes of credits, what is said at the end is undecipherable!

However, I really enjoyed it. Very good feeling of despair. It's taking in the US have dipped sharply now, probably because the American public can't bear the thought of a downbeat ending where the good 'ol US of A doesn't bring down the big bad monster.

Where does that monster come from?

And possibly the loudest film I have ever heard!

Geezer

Boro 05 February 2008 11:06 PM

Somewhere in the film theres another clip of Rob? and his girlfriend looking out to sea. In the background something enters the water from a great height, you gotta be watching carefully to see it i think.

SlimJ_2005 06 February 2008 11:33 PM

Saw this tonight, great film! Loved the perspective of the camcorder as I felt it really gave the film atmosphere and made you a part of the movie, and the fact that you never really knew what was going on like the characters didn't. If the film was shot in the normal way it would've been just another pretty average disaster movie!

Me too, when the film ended there was complete silence and people just looked a bit shell shocked.

Loved it but can see how people could get annoyed with the camera.

TimWRX01 08 February 2008 12:06 PM

Watched it last night. Really enjoyed it.

For me the fact that I knew nothing about it enhanced the experience. If I'd seen all the trailers or read about it I don't think I would have got as much out of it.
