Classic Throttle Bodies

i think my butterfly spindle is worn due to high idle speed (approx 1100).
what difference is there from the pre-face tb's to the facelift ones,i know the inlet is diff but what about the thrott bodies.i wanna try another just too see if theres any change etc.
everything else is fine just wont idle under 1000/1100.

you played at adjusting the idle valve already?

wootty 01 February 2008 01:50 PM

no m8 i havent as im a bit doubtfull of upsetting the ecu settings or something.ive seen the 2 small holding screws and didnt know it can be manually adjusted.

the ecu opens and shuts the valve to keep a steady idle but will adjust to the settings, but the base settings ideally with out the ecu controlling it need to be the lowest idle speed the engine will run and the ecu then adjusts up and down to keep it at the speed it wants..

loosen the two screws and turn the valve anti-clockwise to lower the idle.. it will only take a small amount of movement to drop it.
