19 psi boost

i recently fitted a boost gauge to my 1998 jap wrx. when i hit full boost it reaches 19psi. i havent fiddled with anything since i purchased the car 3 months ago. just woundering if its safe. it also has 3" decat from turbo and performance filter cheers guys!:wonder:

Is it a cheap gauge? If so they can be seriously inaccurate! If it's a good one and you trust it, find out what is increasing the boost pressure. Controller? Bleed valve? Chip?
Whatever it may be you need to know if there is any supporting mods, If it's a genuine 19psi and everything else is standard, you're pushing it a tad, maf will be maxed out and fuel pump! Really on the borderline of running lean at that pressure. It may be you have some uprated parts, but you certainly need to know.

yeah thanks mate. i have a folder full of reciepts but havent got round to looking at them yet. i know its definatley got some mods but all im certain of is the decat and filter. the guy i bought it off said its pushing close to 300bhp.it hasnt got a manual boost controller or anything like that.my mates got an 04 r32 and i left that. he also had a bugeye wrx which was also slower.:cuckoo:

Maybe chipped then, in which case the ign curve should be catered for at least. Programmed chips are usually set in the region of 16psi, so given a slightly inaccurate gauge you could be there abouts.
