Anyone work in HR? Interview questions

Will be attending an interview soon, and we now have to be interviewed by two people one of which is a HR bod.

Basically looking for the standard questions that get asked and whats expected in response.

What's your favourite colour, and why? ;)

It will probably be stuff like "describe a time that you had a conflict at work, and how did you deal with it", "where do you see yourself in five years time", "do you work better in a team or by yourself" etc.

"Name your three best qualities"
"Name your three worst qualities"

etc etc.

HR interviewer: What is your greatest weakness and how do you overcome it?

Interviewee: My greatest weakness is answering dumb HR interview questions on what my biggest weakness is. Coming up with this answer was how I overcame it :p

If you could be any animal what would you be?

.. and don't hire anyone who replies with "An Okapi"

:D

why do you want this position
what makes you think you are the right person for the role
what will you bring to the role
what was your best win/save in business and why
strengths and weaknesses
what do you see yourself doing in 5 years time
what do you know about the(thier) company

If the HR person says there are no wrong answers just get up and leave as there are wrong answers and would you want to work for a comany who tell you sh*t like that!

Do you like Rottweilers?

PS. Research the company as much as you can and have a couple of sensible questions up your sleeve for them like "Do you plan to expand your product range or concentrate on your existing stuff" Or whatever. Do not criticise their website even if it's rubbish. Good luck btw.

- How are M&Ms made?
- Explain a scenario for testing a salt shaker.
- If you are going to receive an award in 5 years, what is it for and who is the audience?
- Suppose you go home, enter your house/apartment, hit the light switch, and nothing happens - no light floods the room. What exactly, in order, are the steps you would take in determining what the problem was?
- Interviewer hands you a black pen and says nothing but "This pen is red."

:D

The "which 5 items would you take" senario seem poular (and stupid)

pimmo2000 30 January 2008 09:35 AM

I had one recently !

Name a time you delt with a colleague whom was angry ?
How could you have delt with the situation better ?

Name a time you went out of your way to project a positive image for the company ?

etc
